Exciting insights from one of the leading companies in terms of workplace flexibility, Atlassian, confirming that the How is more important than the Where when executives were surveyed about teamwork and collaboration. "How teams work is more important than where they work. That makes sense: the biggest obstacles to effective teamwork are things like vague goals, confusing processes, and useless meetings. None of these problems are magically solved when employees head into the office. In fact, our research shows that only 1 in 3 executives think that their return-to-office policy has had even a slight impact on productivity."

While distributed work has many benefits, one of the challenges can be building a sense of #community. That’s why we organize 'intentional togetherness' events where Atlassians can hang out with each other and build a sense of shared purpose and camaraderie. Today we have Atlassians across 46 states in the US alone, so a new practice I've started doing is setting aside time when I travel to hang out with local teammates. It's simple - just drinks, snacks, and bonding in their hometown. It gives me a chance to interact with Atlassians across functions and tenures, digging into everything from favorite video games and pets to business and company strategy questions. I always get so much energy out of it - hanging out with my people, my tribe, the community I belong to. 💫 Thank you to everyone who came out to the SoCal and Austin events - cheers to many more engaging moments and memories together.
