We just had a holiday as a family and I DIDNโT take my laptop for the first timeโฆ And guess what? It felt amazing! I owe Ryan Burkinshaw and Paul Butcher for that Now, that no laptop part might not be big for some, but it is for me. With two young kids (picture attached as evidence but also because itโs my favourite one of the trip), Iโd always find time somehow to get an hour done to clear emails, but my wife and my colleagues told me not to this time, and itโs worked perfectly. I spent that hour devouring ice cream and making sure they didnโt choke on pool-water insteadโฆ! The reason I could though is the team! Over the last 6.5 years weโve grown an actual management team, with layers of support, and a self-policing culture that means only the trickiest topics reach my layer. Weโve trained them externally and internally, and it meant I could go into the week trusting all would be better than okay. And yes, theyโve delivered! Thanks to Ryan Burkinshaw and Paul Butcher steering the ship. I can catch up on emails today, enjoy the weekend, hit the ground running come Monday, and I couldnโt be more grateful
It's great to see the value of work-life balance in action! Empowering your team and trusting in their abilities clearly pays off, allowing for quality time with family. Something we all should take into account. Kudos to your team for handling the reins. ๐
It's always important to have a good team as the backbone of the ship.
That sounds like a well-deserved break, Ben! How has the management team at JBAndrews adapted to this self-policing culture?
It's always a pleasure! Glad you were able to get some quality family time in Ben Liggins.
Love this ๐
Nice to see how you, JBandrews and your family have grown. Here is the second bun in the oven as well and in 2 months time we are a family of four as well.
