European semiconductor regions want to further expand cooperation. That was discussed and aligned at the first annual meeting of the European Semiconductor Regions Alliance #ESRA in the Saxon capital Landeshauptstadt Dresden. Knowing Saxony's petty statehood (Kleinstaaterei, everything was invented, but not yet from everybody) while seeing the state of Saxony taking this initiative underlines that the problems in the 🇪🇺 semiconductor industry are understood and well addressed: ✅ A resilient 🇪🇺 semiconductor eco system must provide the whole value chain from raw materials up to testing, cutting and packaging of chips. ✅ At the moment no region facilitates the whole value chain. ✅ Sustainable investments need high utilization rates of all investment goods. This can only be reached by an interregional aligned investment strategy. ✅ The aligned investment strategy will act as a 🧲 for further chip products made in 🇪🇺 made for the 🌍. ✅ All regions will profit from the growing semiconductor business. No reason to argue with each other. Thank you Thomas Schmidt and #MichaelKretschmer for taking this initiative and bringing European regions together. https://lnkd.in/eXezT8n9

Last week, the European Union launched the European Semiconductor Regions Alliance. At the initiative of the German state of Saxony, 27 regions from twelve EU member states are now participating in the initiative. Its aim is to promote knowledge exchange, foster collaboration and #innovation, develop strong and resilient value chains and reduce dependencies. The following ten states are participating from Germany alone: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia. This is another important signal from Europe to strengthen the #semiconductor industry, brought bottom-up from the regions to the European level. More Europe-wide networking, exchange and cooperation are essential if Europe is to achieve its goal of 20% of the world market share in semiconductor production. #EUChipsAct https://lnkd.in/eDy6mXDG

No matter how fast each of us is, together we are unbeatable!!! 😀 Advanced Energy Runners in action at Germanys 3rd biggest company run. We were part of the 28,500 participants in Dresden! 💪 What else needs to be said? I knew that the semiconductor industry is an important pillar of Dresden's economy - BUT yesterday I experienced and saw it - I felt and estimated that around 75% of Dresden's research and company landscape is (directly and indirectly) related to the semiconductor industry. Dresden rocks the technology sector! ❤️ #techfuture #wachstum #innovation #mikroelektronik

On November 29th, a Swedish semiconductor delegation led by the Swedish Ambassador to France, Håkan Åkesson, had the pleasure of being welcomed to STMicroelectronics fab site and CERTeM R&D center in Tours. The Swedish delegation was organized by STMicroelectronics in collaboration with Business Sweden and the Swedish Embassy (Suède en France) with the objective to explore bilateral collaborations within sustainable semiconductor manufacturing and innovative semiconductor development. Swedish solution providers with international activities Atlas Copco, Munters and Trelleborg Group participated in the delegation together with Obducat Group, Kisab and SweGaN AB, all Swedish SMEs with specialized expertise within semiconductor development. The delegation discovered ST's global and local initiatives and strategies and engaged in concrete discussions on future collaborations between ST and the Swedish participants. In light of the recent approval of the EU Chips Act, the objective was to explore how both Sweden and France can support European competitiveness and resilience in semiconductor technologies and applications. A big thank you to Stephane M. and his team for an inspiring day and engaged dialogues on how our semiconductor ecosystems can continue to work together to develop the semiconductor solutions for the future. We look forward to supporting the continuous dialogues ahead!
