Excited to share a personal milestone - stepping out of my comfort zone to tackle new challenges! Dealing with chronic and auto-immune invisible illnesses can make us doubt our abilities, but I refuse to let that hold me back. After years away from academia and professional settings, I've taken the leap to enroll in a two-day class at the Huntsville Fire and Police Academy. My goal? To become a certified peer counselor. It's a test of resilience and determination, but I'm ready to see if I can accomplish this. Here's to pushing boundaries and embracing growth! 🌟🚀 #PersonalGrowth #NewBeginnings #Resilience #ChallengeAccepted Alt text: picture of the first slide on a big tv screen on the wall saying peer support member day 1

Community = Liberation | Dedicated to Socially Impactful Art Initiatives | Founder, RubiArt | Creative Educational Leader | Community Engagement Expert
Just wrapped up another insightful virtual training session on "Supporting Accountability in Individuals Who Have Caused Harm," part of the Foundations Certificate in Restorative Principles at Wilfred Laurier University. Although I've already earned this certification through courses on Restorative Principles 101, Applying an Anti-Oppressive Approach, Engaging Circle Practice, and Reframing Conflict Culture, my pursuit of knowledge doesn't stop there. Continuous learning is a core value of mine, especially as I strive to weave these critical teachings into the fabric of my work with RubiArt my art and social change company. This workshop profoundly examined the narratives we hold about individuals who cause harm, focusing on skill-building for managing our own responses while emphasizing the necessity of guiding individuals toward acknowledging their actions and transforming their behaviors. I'm deeply grateful for the expertise and insights shared by Sarah Scanlon, Associate Director, Sexual Violence Response, Office of Human Rights and Conflict Management and Co-Coordinator of Laurier’s Restorative Justice Initiative, and Carol Bilson, Latina/x PhD candidate and Director of Operations and Outreach at the Anti-Violence Project. The session commenced with a powerful statement that "no one is disposable," setting a profound tone that challenged us to consider who is deemed worthy in our white supremacist society. It echoes the life’s work of numerous Restorative Justice theorists, Black/Brown/Indigenous/Queer ancestors, and activists dedicated to disrupting narratives around disposability. This experience reinforces my belief in the power of restorative principles to not only address harm but also foster a culture of accountability and compassion within our communities and broader society. How can we, as a collective, nurture an accountability culture in our communities, ensuring everyone is seen as invaluable to our shared humanity? #RestorativeJustice #SocialChange #AccountabilityCulture

BCBA Strategist | 17+ Years Spearheading ABA & Educational Initiatives | Committed to Transformative Leadership
Many talk about bringing your whole self to work, but the reality is complex. Authenticity is a privilege, and acknowledging this truth is vital‼️ Marginalized communities often face barriers, bias, and stereotypes, preventing them from bringing their WHOLE self into certain spaces. Let's reflect on the BCBA supervision world where diversity matters. The data has shown that only 12.86% of BCBAs identify as Hispanic/Latinx, and 73.33% are White. Needless to say, as a Latina starting off in the #ABA field, trying to grow and learn from my supervisors and peers, I had always been advised things like not to use my hands when speaking to avoid seeming too “aggressive” or to watch my tone; We frequently find ourselves compelled to exclude aspects of our true selves, watering ourselves down so others can feel more comfortable. Belonging is about psychological safety. To the #ABA professionals who often carry societal burdens, you belong, are seen, and are essential‼️ #BCBA supervisors, remember that authenticity is a privilege. Acknowledging authenticity as a privilege emphasizes the need for cultural competence in BCBA supervision. Understanding and respecting diverse perspectives also contribute to a richer and more effective learning experience. Let’s start creating spaces where everyone feels safe to be their true, authentic selves. 💙💡 #AuthenticityMatters #BCBASupport #InclusiveABA #BelongingInBehaviorAnalysis #SpecialEducation #RemoteSupervision #BACBGuidelines #BehaviorAnalysis #EducationMatters#ABAExpertise #LeadershipJourney #MakingPositiveChange #Sped #specialeducationteacher #aspiringBCBA #futureBCBA #BCBASupervision #BCBASupervisor #BCBAJourney #CoachingForSuccess #ABAChallenges #ABAExpertise #MakingPositiveChange #ABA #aspiringBCBA #futureBCBA #BCBASupervision #BCBASupervisor #BCBAJourney #CoachingForSuccess #ABAChallenges #strivebcs

You don't actually want to be a DEI practitioner... ...you want to be an organizational designer with a specialization in developing inclusive and just systems for all identities... ...you want to be a clinician with a lens for systemic determinants of health and racial trauma healing... ...you want to be a historian for your own people... ...you want to help develop products and services that cater to a wider range of needs... ...you want to disrupt supply chains so they boost environmentally conscious products and services from peoples and places that often get overlooked... ...you want to get involved in local governance and pave pathways for others like you...

Does society really understand difference and diversity? Author, advocate, teacher and coach. Autism, ADHD and neuro difference from the inside out.
https://lnkd.in/ez4HSjbf What is neurodiversity really about? Do those around you say that they understand but really you know that they don't. Does your company offer training but then deliver programs developed and delivered from a neurotypical way of seeing things. I offer training and support from the inside out in order to improve genuine appreciation and inclusion for people who are neurodifferent. https://lnkd.in/ekHHQJvu

With so many separate #EducatorTalent management initiatives—from #preservice training to #professionaldevelopment and compensation—and with district, state, and federal involvement in teacher policies, policymakers often have adopted a piecemeal approach to dealing with this system-level issue, particularly under times of crisis. The GTL Center developed the Talent Development Framework, which provides an opportunity and a road map for state- and district-level policymakers to systemically improve educator quality, address teacher shortages. and improve equitable access for all students. By promoting a comprehensive, systemic approach, the framework helps state and district leaders: ✳ proactively and purposefully address talent challenges per local context; ✳ make sense of talent challenges across the educator career continuum by illustrating and systematizing the complexity of developing human talent in education; ✳ take a more strategic approach to securing the teachers and school leaders needed to create a strong, equitable education system. Explore the Talent Development Framework here! https://gtlcenter.org/tdf

Neuroinclusion by Design | Keynote TedX Public Speaker | Consultant | Innovative Learning and Multimedia Design | Neurodiversity Safety Specialist
Just doing the finishing touches for the first self-study mail out of the neuroinclusion training being offered through the ADR Institute of Alberta and the Foundation of Administrative Justice starting May 15, and created this little 'meet your instructor' video. That was fun. We need to make one of these for you Ruthann Weeks, CRS! It's on the to-do list. 😊 Wondering why we usually have a second facilitator? To cultivate an environment where every voice matters. Having another subject matter expert participate enriches neurodiversity and inclusion discussions with a variety of perspectives. Ruthann also has a pivotal role in helping us all practice psychological safety, essential for navigating these sensitive topics. Ready to embrace neurodiversity and drive positive change? It's your last chance to register, so join us on this transformative journey! https://lnkd.in/gizgcbrs #Neuroinclusion #PsychologicalSafety #ConflictResolution #InclusiveLeadership #HumanResources
