As AI technologies evolve, it will be interesting to see how logistics operations are impacted. Last week it was announced that 3PL giant, C.H. Robinson, will automate functions such as email quote responses and touchless appointments. Rather than a shipper submitting a quote inquiry and waiting for a person to respond, C.H. Robinson’s generative AI technologies will be able to provide a quote in just over 2 minutes while being able to respond to 2,000 quotes daily.   With C.H. Robinson receiving 11K emails a day from shippers and carriers requesting pricing, there are opportunities to leverage these technologies. This might indicate a shrinking workforce, but the ability of technology to read and respond to emails in large volumes will be significant. As logistics companies look to boost their shipment volumes, being able to manage this flood of requests to secure more loads will be a breakthrough that will benefit both shippers and logistics companies.
