Founder/CEO at Rainier RevOps ✦ Author ✦ I talk about RevOps, Marketing, Careers, and Adult ADHD (from my personal experience)
I have a favor to ask and I'm looking to you for help. This isn’t something I do often but over the years I've built a network full of amazing and generous people. As a lot of you know, my view of the way companies hire is that it’s broken. It’s never been more obvious than watching my wife, Kyla Scott 🇺🇦🇺🇸 try to get a job. Some quick context: She has a Master’s Degree from the University of South Dakota and started a PhD program at Iowa State. She started her career as a social worker because she wanted to make a difference and didn’t care how much she was paid to do it. When we lived in Seattle, she worked for the State of Washington, first in CPS (Child Protection Services) and then in the Department of Early Learning where she helped with the licensing of daycares in the area. The bureaucracy of the public sector was getting her down and she was shackled from truly making a difference in people’s lives like she had hoped. On top of that, she and I experienced between 5-7 miscarriages - to the extent that we thought we would never have kids. Working around children became very difficult for her. As a result, she decided to step away from that line of work for awhile and was really just looking for a ‘job’. Sometimes, it’s good to just have a job. I was able to connect her with some people I knew at Microsoft and she began contracting in University recruiting and HR. Not ideal for her skillset and the pay wasn’t great. But, it was a job that gave her flexibility to work remotely - before that was a thing - and eventually the ability to work and take care of the three babies we would ultimately have - the youngest just turned one in September. In February she returned from maternity leave only to be laid off that same day. She’s been looking ever since and it’s absurd how difficult it has been for her. Mostly because she leads with her resume, which is not even close to representative of what she can do. As a former recruiter, let me break down what she’s capable of doing: - Program Management: she lead an entire statewide program during her time working for the State of Iowa - Project Management: she is extremely organized, can communicate well, and knows how to push things through to completion. - She’s a really fast learner - she’s recently started a business and has been using HubSpot, Canva, and Asana - She’s a great writer - She has helped build curriculums - She has written grant proposals for companies and taught them how to do this - She’s smart. REALLY smart. Sometimes it’s not about what you’ve done as much as it’s about potential and the company that embraces that and hires her will be a very lucky company. So, my favor…help me introduce her to people who get it and are looking for a raw talent who can provide unique perspectives, is eager to learn, will exceed their expectations versus someone coming in, set in their ways, but may know how to do the job from Day 1.

Good morning and happy #SocialSaturday! ☀️ I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend so far. I’m leaning on my LinkedIn village. I need help with recommendations and endorsements to get me hired! 📍 Location: Rosemount, MN What I’m looking for: ✅ A 100% remote position as an #ExecutiveAssistant or #Paralegal. (NOTE: I currently do not have a vehicle so I am unable to relocate or commute back and forth to work.) ✅ I’m #OpenToWork in other fields such as #edtech, #education, or #HigherEducation. ✅ Base Salary: $85k+ ✅ Full benefits—health, vision, dental, family planning, and more! ✅ Ample opportunity for vertical mobility. I want to be vested in my next position long-term! ✅ Optional: perks such as company swag and company retreats! What I bring to the table: 🚨 A Master of Science in Criminology 🚨 A teachable/coachable personality 🚨 A fast learner—I simultaneously taught full-time and did my accelerated Master’s program while maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA! 🚨 A professional demeanor with a strong work ethic and thirst for success. 🚨 Cultural sensitivity: my experience as an educator has enabled me to successfully work, communicate, and motivate people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds! Respectfully, I am not interested in contract/1099 work, “financial services” Primerica, MLM, or commission-based roles. Also, I am not interested in resume services or profile optimization. Please interact with this post—reposting and commenting will increase my reach! #hirethishuman #cfbr #OpenToConnect

When you're dealing with the unique challenge of hiring the right community managers for your brand right from the start, remember to prioritize soft skills like problem-solving, connecting people, and a real passion for building communities. Some of the best community builders I've had the pleasure of working with came from unexpected backgrounds like hospitality, sales, or nonprofits. So, look for candidates who really shine in these areas, rather than being overly swayed by flashy resumes or specific platform expertise. #CommunityBuilding #HiringTips

Merit America just posted a Director of Regional Partnerships - Bay Area to join our Development team! This is a brand-new role to the organization, and although we are 💻remote first, this person needs to reside in the Bay Area 😎 Here's the gist (and shout out to Chelsea for drafting these key points!): 🔹 You'll be our on-the-ground hero: Building relationships with key funders, community partners, and anyone else who can help us make a real impact in the Bay Area. 🔹You'll flex your strategic muscles: Developing a rock-solid expansion plan, managing projects like a pro, and helping us create a playbook for future growth. 🔹You'll be the voice of Merit America: Charming donors, captivating audiences, and spreading the word about our mission to create family-sustaining careers. Bonus points if you: 🔹Know the Bay Area workforce development scene like the back of your hand. 🔹Have a track record of raising (and keeping!) 7-figure gifts. 🔹Can juggle multiple projects while maintaining your sanity (and sense of humor). 🔹Are a champion for DEIJ and believe everyone deserves a chance to thrive. 📝 Application: https://lnkd.in/e4453Vxm 🎬 Job Trailer: https://lnkd.in/etDqbCzm Please note - I am not the hiring manager nor the recruiter for this role, and while I wish I could personally respond to every inquiry about this role, unfortunately, I don't currently have the capacity to do so ❤️ 💡 There are three application questions - I will share them in the comments if you want to start working on them before you submit your application! #MeritAmerica #JoinMeritAmerica #NonprofitJobs #BayAreaJobs #WorkforceDevelopment #CommunityPartnerships #DevelopmentJobs #Hiring
