More than a third (36%) of the UK’s senior business leaders, including owners, C-Level executives and board directors, are considering a change of role in the next 12 months, according to new research. LHH, a leading global talent development and career solutions company, surveyed more than 1,000 business leaders across the globe, including in the UK, and found that the pressure created by a myriad of external and internal challenges is taking its toll on executive wellbeing, leaving many considering job changes in 2024. "The job market continues to remain strong..." ... said an economist yesterday to a small group of 40+ staffing business owners. Do you agree? When looking through the economic data, there is a mixed story. A story of flourishing and struggling sectors. For example, there continues to be demand for healthcare professionals but deflated compensation for some roles (i.e., travel nurses). Hospitality is experiencing a boom as the industry tries to recover it's challenges over the past few years, but hospitality tends to offer lower pay rates as compared to some other industries. Unemployment remains low and demand for skilled talent remains high. Many corporate Talent Acquisition teams are being asked to cut back on costs (i.e., staffing partners), but their companies haven't made the investments to keep up with the long-term investments made by third party providers. Great interview with Marriot’s CHRO. I like they are focusing on developing all associates not just the top few. As the saying goes, high tides raise all ships. If all your associates are more capable the organization will be able to address challenges at the point of need vs waiting on the top few to lead the way.

So excited to be attending this years Gallup at Work summit! I recently took the Clifton strengths finder assessment and found that my greatest strength is “discipline!” The discipline strength is described as someone who has great organization, order and precision. My controlled planning and routines increase efficiency and bring predictability and structure to turmoil. If you know me at all, you know this is spot on! I’ve given the assessment to some of my colleagues to better understand them and to increase productivity when working alongside them. Ecstatic to learn more at this summit and put even more of my learnings into practice. If you have taken the assessment, I also highly recommend reading Strengths finder 2.0 and Strengths Based Leadership. A lot of wonderful insight that only helps you become a better leader.
