During our Sip to Celebrate Reception, we took the opportunity to celebrate our Community Impact Partners. Individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond to partner with CPSFL to help our South Florida Community. Today we're highlighting Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick remains committed to tackling the growing housing crisis, inadequate access to quality health care, and lack of equitable opportunities throughout our district and country. She also recently helped us secure a 1 million dollar grant for affordable housing! Thank you again Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick for your partnership and all the work you do for our community! #southfloridacommunity #communitypartnerships #FloridaNews

Quality housing is critical to address the social determinants of health, and within the communities of color most affected by health and housing disparities, these systemic issues directly correlate to structural gaps in education, employment, public safety, adjudication, juvenile justice, environmental equity, community continuity, and overall quality of life. This is a much-needed start... Edwith Theogene
The Center for American Progress released a new report detailing how nonprofit hospitals and health systems can improve health by addressing housing issues within their community. The community benefit requirement is an important avenue for nonprofit hospitals and health systems to tackle social determinants of health. Wow...things were worse with Tory…I know that…but like. Did the council read OHR Commision Publications and do the opposite??? Oh, yeah. OHRC is too WOKE for those C.'s "The City is committed to engaging the community to support the positive integration of the shelter into the neighbourhood. Community engagement includes ongoing communication and a Community Liaison Committee (CLC) that was established in late 2020. More information about some of the community engagement can be found at the “Virtual Information Session in Sept 2020,”.the CLC provides resident representatives, businesses, and community organizations with an opportunity to be actively involved in identifying concerns and challenges related to the shelter, as well as supporting the successful integration of the shelter into the community. If you live in the Scarborough-Guild wood area and are interested in learning more about upcoming meetings and available opportunities on the committee," Meetings with Community Groups... I have to go through that again? The earlier stuff hasnt even been resolved. I'm still waiting for me FOI. Hey, how about meetings with the homeless and fuck everyone else. It's their lives. Like those meetings should NEVER happen!!! Not according to me..according to the Ontario Human Rights Commission. If it is in a Commission Policy, then it is what the tribunal bases their decisions on. : Section 45.5 of the Code states that the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (the Tribunal) may consider policies approved by the OHRC in a human rights proceeding before the Tribunal. Where a party or an intervenor in a proceeding requests it, the Tribunal SHALL consider an OHRC policy. How much did the CHRT just validate that Indigenous Children need to be awarded as remedy for the discrimination by the Government in not affording them equal privileges as other Canadians? It's in the $Billions. One more suggestion. Let people other than city hall decide who is on committees as people who aid the COUNCIL in understanding things from a lived experience perspective. Who's the dick tator? Wake The F# Up. This isn't a joke. People are dying. City Hall's Bright Idea of being fair from 2020 and Tory who was not a Torie.

The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg , partnered with Bayfront Health, proudly allocated $4.8 million in grants across 2023 and 2024. These funds fuel capacity building, professional development, program operations, and cross-sector collaboration in key focus areas: promoting Mental Health and Wellness for BIPOC communities and fostering Economic Equity and Justice. Metropolitan Ministries' very own NeighborHOPE Project was chosen to be one of the many grant recipients. The NeighborHOPE Project is being awarded $ 2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ to support Economic Equity and Justice via the enhancement of navigational supports that will connect homeless youth and adults to services. We celebrate this exciting milestone of expanding further into Pinellas County, marking a significant step forward in our mission. This new partnership with the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg signifies a shared commitment to uplifting communities and transforming lives. This generous grant will serve as a catalyst for positive change, enabling us to bolster essential services. From providing crucial case management for family wellbeing and housing security to offering employment and vocational guidance, our efforts will focus on empowering individuals to thrive. Additionally, system navigation support will ensure seamless access to vital resources, while mini grants for local agencies will amplify community impact. With dedicated financial assistance and education certification programs, we aim to equip individuals with the tools they need to achieve sustainable success. #HopeDoesMore #GrantRecipeint #communitystrong #racialequity #equity #collaboration #florida #socialimpact #economicequality

Tony Armstrong on Sky News - Selling off community assets is a "sugar rush" - generating a temporary high but causing long term damage to our communities. We're calling for a Community Right to Buy, giving community groups right of first refusal to buy much-loved local assets. We're also supporting the Save Birmingham campaign, who have helped residents nominate nearly 200 places for protection on the savebirmingham.org website. "The people of Birmingham and other places are not responsible for the problems their councils have got into, but they will be directly impacted if services, buildings and much-loved assets are taken away." Local community organisations positively impact the local economy - providing jobs, getting people into training and supporting mental health. Councils need to build partnerships with them to create sustainable solutions for the future. 🏠 For years #AccessToHome has been funded at just $1 million. On average only 40 homes could be modified. That’s < than 1 home/county! Increased funding=more NYers served! #HousingIsaHumanRight Alt text: Image color theme is a dark teal, golden yellow , and light teal. A pattern of varying-colored lines on the right side of the image with a circle frame towards the lower right of the image containing a video. The heading on the image reads, The Power of Perspective | Advocates Speak Out. The subheading is inside of a dark teal frame with curved edges. The text reads Support Access To Home. Just below is text , 'Accessibility benefits everyone. Do better,’ says Lauren Pine. From tragedy to advocacy, she highlights the urgent need for accessible housing. Let's prioritize inclusivity in our communities. Join the movement for a more accessible future! At this time of huge challenge for many of our Local Authorities, we must all support this initiative to protect our Community Assets and ensure the Community gets every chance to shape and develop them in the future. I have a huge respect to Tony Armstrong and the wonderful team at Locality for championing this cause and raising awareness nationwide, and here in Birmingham. Birmingham City Council have struggled for many years to support a cohesive and collaborative approach to Community Asset Transfers, with a few notable exceptions (Witton Lodge Community Association and Norton Hall among them) Across the border in Sandwell, Sandwell Council supported the development of North Smethwick Development Trust at the Brasshouse- another great example of what can be achieved when Councils work in harmony with Community Groups and Charities. Kingsbridge Community Sports and others learned the hard way just how hard it can be to achieve a successful and effective Asset Transfer. Councils like Birmingham City Council need their Third Sector counterparts even more in times like these. Assets that Councils can no longer afford to maintain (like Holders Lane Sports Ground in Birmingham) should be transferred into reliable community ownership, protected and preserved in perpetuity for the benefit and wellbeing of present and future communities. Birmingham must move on from the past political backbiting, and shady dealings and begin a new era of transparency and accountability, building trust, openness and collaboration. Once these assets (buildings as well as green-spaces) are sold off, they can never be regained. #communityengagement #assetprotection #communityfirst #communityaction Fields in Trust #wellbeing https://lnkd.in/eZ9kAim2
