During our Sip to Celebrate Reception, we took the opportunity to celebrate our Community Impact Partners. Individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond to partner with CPSFL to help our South Florida Community. Today we're highlighting Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County. Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County is an independent special district established by Palm Beach County voters in 1986. Today, Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County provides leadership, funding, services and research on behalf of Palm Beach County’s children so they grow up healthy, safe and strong. Thank you again Children's Services Council for your partnership and all the work you do for our community! #southfloridacommunity #communitypartnerships #teamcpsfl

A transformative vision is taking shape in Saginaw County, one that is set to transform the very fabric of our community. Led by a coalition of passionate community leaders from education, business, healthcare, and community non-profit, the Community Engagement and Inclusion Council (CEIC) is poised to create a brighter, more inclusive, and equitable future for all in our county. From grassroots conversations to impactful action, 2021 marked the genesis of a movement in Saginaw County. Community leaders, driven by a collective ambition for progress, spearheaded the creation of a robust diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ) vision and strategic plan. This strategic plan provides a roadmap that promises to propel Saginaw County toward a future where diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice are cornerstones, not aspirations. For questions or to receive additional information, email the CEIC at ceic-info@saginawfoundation.org. Read more about the CEIC strategic plan introduction: https://lnkd.in/gB65qwFK

A bit of a late post, but I have to shout out the 30+ folks who attended our Big Reveal Event at the Deaconess Center for Child Well-Being! In case you missed it - Transform 314 implemented a campaign from August - October 2023 to help shape our 2024 advocacy priorities. We obtained feedback through surveys and Community Conversations. While we were open to hearing from ALL St. Louisans, we were intentionally working to engage a group that historically is not engaged in collective advocacy efforts - Black St. Louisans under the age of 45. 66% of the 488 participants that completed the survey identified as Black, with a majority of participants identifying as being under the age of 45 The top 5 issues Black participants expressed they were willing to advocate for were: #5: Increasing input on how money is spent in your community #4: Improving street safety #3: Improving access to quality and affordable food #2: Improving access to healthy and affordable housing AND addressing vacancy #1: Improving streets, sidewalks, lighting, etc. So...what's next? In 2024, Transform 314 will be advocating for improving the infrastructure in the City of St. Louis. We will work on this effort monthly at our Community Meetups, with the first one on Wednesday, Jan. 10th at 6pm at High Low (3301 Washington Ave - 63103). I was so excited to watch this project come together, from early concepts and strategy to those first design mockups and all the way through to development and deployment. It was a wonderful project and I love the end result. Congrats to Stef Jones, Heather Schneider, Tayo, Joshua, Mike, and the entire SCAN team. Here are a few behind-the-scenes highlights I caught from the sidelines while watching this project come together: 1) We used Octopus.do for rapid and visual sitemap generation. It helped visualize rough page layouts, which helped communicate those ideas with the project's lead designer. 2) This is the second project we have used Storybook on, and it made QA and handling the growing number of layout permutations feel manageable rather than ballooning technical debt. 3) We continue to push image attribution on as many photos as possible. This is an extra bit of work but makes the site feel alive, rich with meta details, and does right by both the photographers, artists, and the subjects. We've been using tippy.js for this and might move to the author's new library, floating-ui.js, in the future. 4) We used GigaPixel by TopazLabs to upscale one of the main hero images. It does a beautiful job of adding super-resolution detail without introducing artifacts or detracting from the original's look and feel. It's a one-time purchase, and we'll definitely be using it in the future. 5) Utility-based CSS frameworks seem to have been a win with the developers; maybe I was the lone skeptic. They also make content modular across a single project and even potentially between different client projects. This is particularly of interest as we lean heavily into WordPress Gutenberg blocks. Combined with Storybook, it could also be a winning strategy.

The Community-Based Public Safety Collective: Discovering Our Vital Roles 📹 Watch as we unveil the heart of CBPS Collective and what we stand for. When we think about addressing violence within our communities, our minds often turn to law enforcement. But here's the truth: "You can't have public safety without the public." To truly make a difference, we must work with those within the community. At its core, CBPS Collective is about investing in black and brown leadership in communities impacted by violence across the country. These leaders have long been under-resourced and deserve our support. Our dedicated team members discuss our mediation process and guide individuals in creating a culture of peace within neighborhoods. We actively seek out organizations in need and provide the funding they require. We're here to do the work, to help people save lives, and to empower leaders within the community. Public safety, to us, means fostering a presence of well-being to support victims and survivors. 💪 With the funding we provide, communities can hire new members, build infrastructure, and scale their programs. Join us as we share our stories and insights that showcase our commitment to building capacity and strengthening communities. Family, we are creating a new approach to safety-- one that recognizes the vital role of community leadership. Join the movement, and let's make our communities safer and more resilient. www.cbpscollective.org #CommunitySafety #CBPS #Empowerment #InvestingInLeadership #ViolenceIntervention #PublicHealth #cvi #publicsafety #CommunitySafety #blackandbrownunity #nonprofitlife #grants

Social Impact and Philanthropy | Community Relations | BEYGOOD Foundation Small Business Grant Recipient
More than 75% of Black-led nonprofits operate with budgets under $500,000 annually, many even manage on just $30,000 a year. These organizations play a critical role in Black communities and across the country. This #BlackPhilanthropyMonth, the YOUNG BLACK & GIVING BACK INSTITUTE calls on funders to do more to support #BlackLedChange in a new report: https://lnkd.in/eHRPrdD6 Here are a few interesting highlights from the report (again, just a teaser!): 📍 Volunteer-Driven: 43.5% of these organizations operate without paid full-time employees, and 45.6% lack paid part-time employees, highlighting their reliance on volunteers. 📍 Founder-Led: Almost three-fourths of the surveyed organizations are led by their founders, who tend to have over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector (52.9%). Thank you to Ebonie Johnson Cooper for including me in this initiative!
