I always thought I would be too stubborn to pivot. Clara Gillet and I came to the Antler residency with a problem to solve, and we were strongly convinced that a livestreaming service would be the answer. By week 3, everything changed:
👫 Our target demographic is now 10-15 years younger than the one we originally had in mind
🏘 The livestreaming service we were so excited about is now a B2C Marketplace
📍 Our focus is now hyperlocal instead of "global from day one"
🗑 Our value proposition, go-to-market, pricing strategy and financial plan had to be completely reworked
I'm not even sure that we've invalidated our previous idea, we just found a better solution to our problem. One that will deliver much more value to our target users.
The aha-moment only came to us only after 18 user interviews. If we had stopped after 15 user interviews, we might have never reached that conclusion. So that's the obvious lesson here, go deep and it's ok to be wrong at first 😅
The non-obvious lesson here, is "team first, ideas second". The only slide of our first pitch deck I didn't have to replace was the Team slide. Still going strong and moving fast 💪
