Crothall Healthcare's Nick Zarriello offers words of wisdom for Pride Month – and every month: “We can all be allies of the LGBTQ+ community – or any community – by taking the time to simply get to know one another. The importance of kindness, compassion, understanding and empathy toward others cannot be over emphasized.”

Hello, I am an employee of @compassgroupuk and Coppaas group company slandered me, fired me, did not give me any rights and ruined my business career. They threatened me with death, they broke my psychology, this company is from the British government, I want justice, I want the UK Compass Group company to empathize, the compass group I work for destroyed my life and I will announce this to everyone. I will write to the whole world and to all companies and TV channels until they give me my rights.

As we continue to celebrate Pride Month, we're thrilled to introduce Danny Cabral, an inspiring professional at SimplePractice. Danny’s journey, from embracing his identity to championing inclusivity, offers valuable insights and motivation for us all.
Q: Why is it important to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community at work?
A: "It is important because even though we are in a professional setting, an individual’s identity and the characteristics that make them unique are important to support/celebrate. This helps an individual feel seen and valued within a collective."
Q: How has being part of the LGBTQ+ community influenced your career and work life?
A: "When I accepted who I was there was a huge realization where I knew I wanted my work life to reflect that. I started as a speech-language pathologist where my goal was to help all people gain the skills to communicate their needs and wants. Whereas now my goal is to help other healthcare providers navigate running a successful business so they can give back to others."
Q: What initiatives or practices at SimplePractice make you feel supported and included as an LGBTQ+ individual or ally?
A: "The official induction of the ERG I found has been one of the greatest ways I feel supported here at the company."

🌈 June was #PrideMonth!
A celebration of love, acceptance, and the incredible strength of the LGBTQ+ community.
A month where you saw a lot of colorful partying and great parades, company Logos with rainbow flags and plenty of people committing to diversity and inclusion. That’s great but let’s also not forget that behind all those rainbow flags lies a political message for freedom, respect and humanity… and many very individual struggles to be true to themselves - to be proud!!
It's a time to honor the progress societies have made and reflect on the battles still being fought. It’s also a time to acknowledge that the freedoms and achievements are not to be taken for granted.
✨🌍 Diversity isn't just a buzzword—it's the lifeblood of our communities. When leaders stand up for LGBTQ+ rights, they send a powerful message: that every person, regardless of who they love or how they identify, where they come from or what they look like is valued and deserves to feel safe and accepted. 🏳️🌈❤️
Leaders can be more than allies in name, 🌟👫 but role models who champion inclusivity, who fight against discrimination, and who inspire others to do the same. Their support can transform lives, foster acceptance, and build a world where everyone can live authentically and proudly. 🌟✨
Let’s amplify the voices of our LGBTQ+ friends and family beyond Pride Month.🗣️💬 Let’s rise as leaders to the occasion, set the standard for inclusivity, and pave the way for a future where diversity is celebrated every single day. 🌈💪

"Who do you want to lose?" My dear friend Charlie Ocean, MSW poses this question and I love it. So often, organizations are jumping to "be inclusive" by hosting a Pride event without doing the work needed to be more than just a performative ally. Employees see this. Clients see this.
This week, one of my many businesses was listed on a Zionist website as someone to not do business with. And friends: I couldn't be prouder and more delighted. Because if I lose folks who are okay with genocide, then I am doing the work... the work that none of us want to do but we must do to address the perpetual inequities in society.
Pride month is right around the corner. Y'all need Charlie, period. Reach out and get them on your books before it's too late and they're full (yes, this is guaranteed to happen). I'm also available and my books are filling up, too.
If you're currently accepting clients for Pride Month offerings, let me know below. Or if you know of folks who are, please tag them below. I'll compile folks and post a list next week, as well as a resource on my website.
Thank you, Charlie and Rex Wilde, for your time, energy, and expertise with this project. It's much needed, not only for organizations, but for queer folks who are unsure of how to price their services. Much love. ❤️

At the top is Charlie Ocean (they/them), Charlie's photo, and a link to https://queer.training. Training: $2,000 - 8,000 per session. Panelists: $500 - 5,000 per panelist. Keynotes: $2,000 - 15,000 per speech. Consulting: $150 - 500 per hour. Recorded Session: $3,000 - 10,000 (per recording and length of access). Fees may vary based on factors like estimated attendance, the number of sessions, length, whether public or private, late notice, customization, bundles, and the speaker's experience.

A year ago, I posted the typical ranges for corporate LGBTQ+ speakers that my friend/colleague Rex Wilde and I worked on as part of a larger project. I was happy and surprised by the wonderful conversations it sparked.
Because my name has since changed, and I'm getting more requests for Pride Month, it feels like a good time to revisit this topic. However, given recent events, I'd like to discuss it differently.
I know the backlash against DEI, JEDI, DEIB, IDEA, etc. (with probably as many variations in acronyms and initialisms as for the LGBTQ+ community) has built steadily over the last few years. Many companies are backpedaling on the work, including those that committed to it back in 2020.
One of my friends brilliantly said you'll lose people no matter what. WHO do you want to lose?
1. If you cut ERG budgets and fire the people you hired to oversee your DEI programming and initiatives, your employees (including those practicing allyship) will see that it was all performative and likely leave for another company unafraid of doing the work. 😔 ➡️ 🏃 (I truly wish there was an additional running emoji in the other direction 😅)
2) If you double down on your commitment to DEI and see it as a foundational investment in improving your workplace culture, the employees who share your company values will stay, and you'll attract more like-minded talent. 💪🏼 🙌🏽 👍

❤️ I've been mulling over my Pride Month post for 17 days now... in some ways I feel guilty for not joining the conversation sooner, but equally, you see a lot of posts going out at the beginning of the month, so maybe it was better to wait.
🧡 The reason for the delay is knowing the right thing to say...
💛 But I've come to the conclusion that I should say what matters to me, if people don't agree or my post takes a different angle to others, that's OK - because isn't part of Pride Month about embracing being different and celebrating individuality?
💚 For me, Pride Month is about raising awareness of the LGBTQ+ community and how we continue to integrate into the modern world. Of course, I try to do this all year round - after all, I'm gay all 12 months of the year, not just one - but I feel in June (rightly or wrongly) we have a larger platform to shout from.
💙 In an ideal world, we would all just be human and the labels wouldn't matter, but unfortunately, we live in a world of discrimination and judgement. LGBTQ+ rights have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, yet still in 2024, the community faces challenges and violence. Will we ever achieve equality for all?
💜 We put a lot of pressure on businesses to be diverse and inclusive, and while I think this is hugely important and necessary, I think we should put more focus on individuals to educate themselves - and therefore this is my challenge...

💡 3 Lessons I've Learned After 2 Years as a Diversity Consultant 💡
1. Transparency is Key: Clearly stating my rate upfront (1000 EUR/hour) saves time and fosters mutual respect.
2. Be Flexible, but Protect Your Energy: Flexibility is vital, but remember that your energy isn't infinite.
3. Don't Hesitate to Ask: Directly reaching out for opportunities, like LGBTQ+ Awareness sessions, leads to meaningful connections. I am approaching LGBTQ+ ERG Lead, Diversity & Inclusion Managers, People & Cuture Directors.

Businesses need to do more to support LGBTQ+ people in their career development. myGwork and Highered's new survey showed that:
🔴 8 out of 10 LGBTQ+ students & graduates believe being out at work will make it more challenging to reach senior positions.
🌈 This highlights the worries Gen Z have when entering the workforce, and that actions need to be taken by businesses to ensure LGBTQ+ people have equal opportunity to progress.

Happy #NationalComingOutDay! While I value that the LGBTQ+ community has this day, coming out is a journey and process that happens over time.
As a People leader, advisor and gay man, what I’ve learnt and found valuable is:
*If you are struggling with your sexuality and/or identity, don’t feel the need to come out until you are ready. It’s an extremely personal decision and the timing and people you share this with should be determined by you and no one else.
*Coming out and figuring out your identity is multi-layered and multi-faceted. It doesn’t always have good connatations for people. Keep that in mind- it’s a celebration for some and a day that can be triggering for others. (the image below highlights/reinforces that)
*Acknowledging my privilege and using it for good- as a white gay man, my privilege isn’t lost on me (nor the opportunities, access or experiences I’ve had). My focus is looking at things through an intersectional lens and helping individuals who aren’t given the same opportunities. That’s why #community is so important!
*Having visible LGBTQ+ leaders and allies at your organization, who can speak up in good times and bad is critical. It’s easy to speak up during Pride month, but it’s much harder when individuals are dealing with hate speech and rhetoric in their communities and/or workplaces. That’s another reason today is still so important!
Hopefully, one of these days, we won’t need this day because everyone will recognize #loveislove, regardless of who you are in love with!
