I have been back in Germany for 1 week now and had to interact with small and big companies as a customer. I take my head off to all small business operators - they have understood the best way to compete with discounters and big business is through customer service and quality products. Unfortunately, there is a common thread amongst the big corporates who operate in Germany, the country where I grew up in and which used to pride itself for its customer service and efficiency, of a lack of (if not non-existence) of customer service. What do Vodafone Deutschland, Eurowings, Sparkasse and GLS have in common? The lack of any kind of customer service and, if one is "fortunate" enough to actually talk to a "customer 'I provide only standardised & scripted replies' representative" - or maybe it is already an AI robot - the person is, in the best case scenario, incompetent, but more likely than not unable to provide any kind of solution, and very often rude or they even tell outright lies! Vodafone & Philippe Rogge, Eurowings & Jens Bischof, Sparkasse and GLS: It's time to lift your game. Great News: The EU Commission has given the "green light", and ITA Airways will soon become part of the Lufthansa Group family. The legal closing is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2024. Until then, ITA Airways and Lufthansa Group remain competitors. We will communicate more details as soon as the formalities have been fully completed.
