How many times have you been in a hospital and seen empty beds lining the hallways? Even prior to Covid (yes, I said it...) 5% of patients contracted Healthcare-Associated Infections. That's roughly 2 million patients a year, and roughly 96,000 of those individuals die as a result of it. Penalties hospitals pay because of it are about $210,000 per hospital! Did you know that price per square foot in hospitals has risen 15% over the past 4 years? Median price according to bdcnetwork.com is $409.43 /sqft! Take back that wasted space and use it for patient centered care! The need for innovative ideas is crucial. That's where vertical storage comes into play. Vidir's Hospital Bed Lift optimizes the vertical space lost with traditional bed storage, and takes the bed out of the hallways where cross contamination occurs! Proper storage will increase cleanliness, decrease patient wait times, improve patient care, and enhance job satisfaction. Corewell Health, Trinity Health, McLaren Health Care... Let's Talk! Did you know? Strategic intervention scheduling is vital to reduce complications and prevent readmissions. Early risk assessment significantly lowers rates, especially as most readmissions occur within the first-week post-discharge. Notably, 17.5% of home health patients return to hospitals within 30 days, and 52% of wound care patients face hospitalization risks. Proactive intervention is essential for patient safety. Archangel's dedication to early risk assessment in home health wound care is pivotal. By minimizing rehospitalizations and complications, we empower patients to fearlessly embrace life once more.

Coming from a #healthcare background I've noticed an area for #improvement as a #productmanager that can significantly #enhance patient #satisfaction: FLEXIBLE follow-up appointments. --> Current Scenario: Visited an eye specialist for an infection; and was advised to follow up after 30 days, but the free follow-up period was only valid for 7 days. Consulted a gynecologist for UTI symptoms; and was advised to come back in 10 days, but the free follow-up window was only 7 days. --> Proposed Improvement: Allow the next follow-up to be free based on the doctor's suggested timeframe rather than a rigid period. Specifically, after a doctor sets a follow-up date, enable a 7-10 day window from that date for the free follow-up. --> Additional Concern: Even when doctors advise a follow-up within the mentioned timeframe, the flexibility to choose a suitable slot becomes restricted, making it challenging for patients to comply with the doctor's recommendation. --> Why This Matters: 1. Enhances patient experience by aligning follow-up windows with medical advice. 2. Provides patients the flexibility to choose a convenient slot within the suggested timeframe. 3. Ensures patients receive timely care without the burden of additional costs. 4. Encourages adherence to medical advice, potentially improving health outcomes. By making these small adjustments, we can create a more patient-centric healthcare system that truly benefits those we aim to serve. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments! #Heathcare #PatientExperience #MedicalCare #CustomerSatisfaction #productmanagement.

Chief Medical Officer, Advocate Health (AMC-Mount Pleasant) "Wherever the art of Medicine is loved, there is also a love of Humanity. ” ― Hippocrates
Celebrating Patient Safety Awareness Week: March 10–16, 2024 at #AuroraMedicalCenterMountPleasant #Advocatehealth #Aurorahealthcare with Raj Thota, Lisa Just, FACHE, Theresa Sullivan, Diana Dovorany, Robert Zimmanck, MD, FASA, Jennifer Maggio, My-Linh Callies, Jeff Benes and all my colleagues. Patient Safety Awareness Week, an annual recognition event that occurs in March, is intended to encourage everyone to learn more about #healthcaresafety. This week serves as a dedicated time and platform for growing awareness about patient safety and recognizing the work already being done. Although there has been real progress made in #patientsafety over the past two decades, current estimates cite medical harm as a leading cause of death worldwide. The #worldhealthorganization estimates that 134 million adverse events occur each year due to unsafe care in hospitals in low- and middle-income countries, resulting in some 2.6 million deaths. Additionally, some 40 percent of patients experience harm in ambulatory and primary care settings with an estimated 80 percent of these harms being preventable, according to WHO.

Hospitalised patients are often at a heightened risk of fall-related injuries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recorded patient falls to be among the most-frequent and serious mishaps in hospitals – with rates ranging from 3 to 5 per 1,000 bed-days. More than one-third of these incidents result in injury, thereby worsening clinical outcomes and increasing the financial burden on healthcare systems. That is where Bengaluru-based Dozee comes to the rescue. Last week, the company added a new fall prevention alert feature to its health monitoring device, where it uses ballistocardiography (BCG) sensors to detect minor movements, as small as the heartbeat of the patient. In conversation with AIM, Gaurav Parchani, the co-founder and CTO of Dozee, said that the device was built to provide quicker treatment without additional effort from the nursing or encumbering the patient with wires. “The whole purpose is to reduce code blue, or emergency transfers to the ICU. We find out when the patient is in danger within minutes of the symptoms showing up in their body.” Read more - https://lnkd.in/gyQbsUpd Mudit Dandwate

Director of Epidemiology/Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, Population Health, and Clinical Acceleration
Good afternoon. Alonso. The idea of enhancing patient hygiene was due to the numerous SNF, patients with really poor hygiene and multiple MDRO's. As you know this poor patient do not receive adequate care. That was the beginning of Steiros. The second observation was that every quality organization was focusing in hand washing among healthcare worker, but nothing on patients. So we implemented the process of providing 3 warm wash clothes to every patient by cleaning their hand and face. Obviously, the results were noted immediately with an incredible reduction of CRE, VRE and other gut flora. Nothing major just re-educating the staff providing a better understanding of the pathology of the disease. Every hospital that has implementing the Steiros Algorithm has the same results.
