Pavement Cross Slopes - Horizontal Alignment This video explains how the pavement cross slope changes throughout a horizontal curve to making the transition from a normal crown  to design superelevation. The combination of horizontal and cross-sectional elements in one image can be difficult to understand and interpret.  This video breaks down the key points of a horizontal curve and explains how and when the slope of the roadway changes to obtain the necessary cross slopes. CJFill-Ultra Lightweight isn't always the best lightweight fill! Need the super low density of EPS but don't want to fiddle with a bunch of massive, cumbersome blocks of fill that will turn to goo if they happen to touch petroleum? This week we were at Boston's Logan International Airport filling over a sloped podium slab between two non-vertical walls with 2.2lb/cuft CJGrout 20SDB to save our customer from having to trim a ton of EPS blocks. You can see that the top isn't perfectly smooth like you'd get with EPS, but instead of trimming it, low spots were just made up with the topping slab (minimum 4" slab thickness). #structuralengineering #civilengineering #bridgeengineering
