Excited to share my latest achievement! As a Civil Society Lead and Strategist, I've completed the #EffectiveEngagementOfCivilSocietyInDevelopment course by #ErasmusUniversityRotterdam #TASKTeam. Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) play a vital role in development, contributing to humanitarian assistance, service delivery, research, policy development, and accountability. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CSOs must engage meaningfully and effectively in development processes. Through this course, I gained insights into: - The history of international commitments to multi-stakeholder collaboration - Good practice examples from countries worldwide - The importance of a CSO enabling environment and development effectiveness. 🎓 I am thrilled to announce that I have graduated with my #PhD from Leiden University! My dissertation explored the intricate dynamics of UN peacekeeping operations in the Israel-Arab conflict from 1967 to 1982. 🌍 My research, titled "An Architecture for Peace: deciphering the UN's Multidimensional Approach to the Israel - Arab Conflict (1967 - 1982)," explores the United Nations' comprehensive approach to managing the Israel-Arab Conflict from 1967 to 1982, presenting a shift from examining peace operations as isolated efforts to viewing them as interconnected elements of a broader peace architecture. The dissertation evaluates the concept of Inter-Operation Collaboration (IOC) of #peacekeeping operations and highlights how the concept had its genesis due to a blend of crises and out-of-the-box thinking. Furthermore, among the main findings are the role and achievements of General Ensio Siilasvuo, who served as Chief Coordinator for peacekeeping in the Middle East. 📰 Leiden University recently featured my work in an insightful article, highlighting the relevance and implications of my research for current and future peace operations: https://lnkd.in/eJDQcQs7

I'm excited to announce that I've successfully completed the Design, Monitoring, and Evaluation course provided by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). This course has reinforced my understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation, emphasizing the pivotal role of design in this field. Design holds immense significance in the realm of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) as it lays the groundwork by establishing clear objectives and delineating expected program outcomes. This process aids in defining measurable indicators crucial for effective monitoring and evaluation. A well-structured program with precise goals facilitates the identification of areas that require monitoring and evaluation.   Furthermore, in the context of peace and security, Design, Monitoring, and Evaluation (DM&E) encompasses the development, oversight, and evaluation of initiatives aimed at promoting peacebuilding, preventing conflict, and ensuring security. These efforts entail a wide array of initiatives intended to foster stability, minimize violence, and address the underlying causes of conflicts. Moreover, DM&E in conflict zones necessitates tailored approaches to plan, oversee, and evaluate programs or interventions within ongoing or post-conflict environments. The unique challenges and complexities in such areas demand DM&E strategies that take into account contextual factors, security challenges, power dynamics, and the specific needs of affected populations. The 6th Editition of the Annual Summer School on Global Peace, Security and Strategic Studies (GPSSS) was kicked off with an insightful practitioner session led by Dr. RORY KEANE Head of UNLOPS - United Nations Liaison Office for Peace and Security. Rory outlined some of the most pressing challenges that the United Nations (and global governance more generally) are currently facing, but also outlined some ideas on how to concretely build back a more effective and inclusive networked multilateralism to address pressing global problems. This year's GPSSS cohort once again brings together 20 talented students and young professionals from around the globe to follow a comprehenisve and in-depth 10-day programme, co-organised by the Global Governance Institute (GGI) and the Royal Military Academy, Belgium with lectures and training sessions given by senior policymakers, leading scholars and civil society representatives.
