Investing in AUTOMATION always is not a good choice. Let's dig deeper. "Wizard of OZ technique" The Wizard of Oz 🧙♂️ technique for minimum viable products (#mvps) involves faking or manually simulating certain parts of a product behind the scenes, instead of building full functionality up front. The Wizard of Oz approach has some key benefits: 1. Allows #validating user need and interest for key interactions without full engineering work upfront. 2. Much lower cost and faster than building everything - great for early testing. 3. Lets you gather #feedback to improve flows before automating them. 4. Gives a more polished #experience vs. static mocks. #Best time ⏲ to apply Wizard of OZ technique It is best used for early stage #validation. It's an extremely useful technique for mocking critical interactions with minimal time and money invested. Few examples of notable companies that have utilized the Wizard of Oz technique in developing their MVPs: 1. Uber When first testing Uber ride-hailing, they used company employees to fulfill ride requests manually during the #beta trial phase before official launch. 2. Dropbox To test their cloud storage MVP, Dropbox faked their #syncing capability by manually syncing files behind the scenes before building real-time sync technology. 3. Zappos When Zappos was still a small startup, they listed shoes on their site that they didn't actually have in #stock yet. Orders were fulfilled directly from manufacturers and suppliers. 4. Slack Slack prototyped its early chat interface by having a human operator manually facilitate #conversations between beta testers. And one last interesting fact - "What is the logic behind the name of this technique?" 😁 The name "Wizard of Oz" technique refers to the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz starring Judy Garland. 📽 In the story, the Wizard is initially presented as a powerful, mystical figure who fulfills people's wishes through magical powers. 🧝♂️ However, it is eventually revealed that the Wizard is just an ordinary man hidden behind a curtain, manually operating controls and smoke machines to simulate the appearance of magic 😊 🤔 Think out of Box to Create things out of Box 😉 #productbuilding #wizard #automation #investmentstrategies #productinnovation

Day 31 of 75 Hard: 'Process Power' (not Processing Power) 🚀 Ready to dive into another exciting dimension of business moats! Today, let's unravel the 'Process Power' moat—a stronghold built on operational efficiency. 🏰✨ Basic Definition: 📊 'Process Power' Moat: A business's ability to dominate by virtue of its highly efficient and streamlined operational processes. Implementation Insights: 🚗 Tesla's Engineering Brilliance: Tesla stands out by achieving 'Process Power' through engineering excellence (as we all know) and cutting-edge, in-house software solutions (specific advantage in their case actually). A stellar example of this is the story behind Tesla's custom ERP software, which you can find here: (https://lnkd.in/gEtVHKiU). 🔄 Startup Style: From my amazing conversation with Laura Novoa, Ph.D. at RE+ 2023, one of the many insights I gained was how Tesla's internal operations resemble a network of startups, ensuring a rapid journey from idea to deployment. This operational autonomy is a crucial factor in building and maintaining their 'Process Power' moat. 🤖 Data-Driven Optimization: ML steps in as specialized teams operate like third-party auditors, treating performance data as an optimization problem. The iterative approach keeps the process power finely tuned (something akin to how CloudFix helps you optimize your AWS spending). 🔍 Exploration: Which companies do you think excel in building the 'Process Power' moat? 🌐 What aspects of this moat can be replicated across industries, and which ones are unique to specific business models or companies ? #business #processpower #operationalefficiency #tesla #engineeringexcellence #ml #businessoperations #efficiency #startupculture #strategicadvantage #innovationjourney #businessinsights #mlops #industryanalysis #continuousimprovement #strategicmoats #businessstrategy #operationsmanagement #corporateinnovation #businessdevelopment #processoptimization #datadrivendecisions #performanceoptimization #businessdiscussion #linkedincommunity #techinnovation #replus #aws #cloud

Another innovative company from NZ, Robotics Plus, accelerated planning cycles by switching to Omnata Sync. Starting with monday.com, sync latency was reduce from hours to minutes... how? With a new API version, complex data structures and heavy use across the company, monday.com data was a challenge to ingest into Snowflake using existing SaaS ELT tools. Omnata's native architecture enables finely tuned sync configurations so priority data always arrives on-time and Snowflake compute workloads can be optimized. Plus, Omnata's pricing is 100% predictable with no data-volume charges or limits on refreshes. Omnata now handles data ingestion from all key SaaS sources in the financial planning cycle including MRPEasy, PayHero and more. A big thanks to Hamish Kemp, who leads the data team and Robotics Plus, for help with this case study. And Simon Peck, Jonathan Hopper from Data Engineers NZ for leading the innovation on Snowflake in New Zealand. Read the full story here https://lnkd.in/gYmJCPAf

AWS is the world leader in supporting the cloud journey of Public Sector organizations, who wish to serve citizens more effectively, accelerate innovation and digital transformation. Proud to be a part of this journey.
Toyota Connected is using AWS to respond to driver emergencies in seconds! SVP and CTO Brian Kursar and Sr. DevOps Engineer Ashley Parks share how the company uses AWS to process petabytes of data from hundreds of sensors in millions of vehicles to help it respond to drivers in emergency situations. Toyota also now uses managed services such as Amazon Bedrock to build generative AI-powered driver experiences. "One of the things we love about AWS is that there's so many options. It allows us to be so creative," says Kursar. Microsoft’s Copilot Rises From the Ashes of Bob and Clippy Shared By: Rob Enderle for Tech News World Microsoft Ignite last week for the AI and Copilot rollout on Azure and Windows. As I watched the presentation, I was taken back in time to the 1990s launch of Microsoft Bob and that first attempt at creating a digital assistant called Clippy, neither of which met expectations back then. But now, Copilot will do far more than those two earlier offerings could even conceive of, and the power of the result, both inside and outside of Microsoft, is incredible. Before the event, I met with a company called Reply, which specializes in getting companies ready for Copilot and setting up metrics so that they can confirm the benefits of the technology. Reply raved about how much more productive they and their clients were. What is truly amazing is that the Copilot technology was still in its infancy only eight months ago. Last week, it went to general availability at top enterprises in medicine, farming, services, software, automotive, banking, and petrochemicals. Now, 70% of users indicate they don’t want to work without this capability. In the 40 years I’ve been in this business, I’ve never seen this kind of technology ramp so fast from a beta product to what it is today. Let’s talk about that this week. We’ll close with my Product of the Week, an electric SUV that I just ordered that I think is the best you’ll be able to buy before 2025: the Fisker Ocean. There are 62,000 orders right now, but since they only produce 2,000 a month, I’ve got a bit of a wait. If you want to learn more join us at ycoproductions.com
