Excited to reflect today on my 1st year anniversary with DCPS. It has been a great year of learning alongside amazing leaders and building new programming to facilitate collaboration, share innovations and develop joyful supportive professional learning communities. I’m so happy that many of the teacher leaders I developed stepped into school leadership as APs this year! I’ve seen there are so many dynamic school leaders in DCPS who demonstrate a true commitment to giving all kids the best we know education has to offer. I’ve gotten to work on a wonderful team that believes in building leadership from within our classrooms and schools and am getting to know many folks well who support our district schools. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity to make a greater impact for DC children and families.

A lightbulb moment for current MS in Leadership & Negotiation student, Courtney Reyes. Courtney reached out to Program Director Josh Weiss to share how she directly applied what she was learning in the program in real time. “I recently found myself in one of the biggest negotiations I could ever be in, which landed me in the Interim Director position. I truly believe I was successful in being offered the promotion and received the pay and added benefits because of all the knowledge and skills I gained from the MLN program.
