🌟 We are thrilled to have been part of the Wellbeing at Work World Europe Summit in Zurich! 🌟 Our presence at the summit underscored the critical importance of employee well-being and its direct impact on business success. Here are some key takeaways: 🤔 Understanding Employee Well-being: It's crucial to understand not just what employees feel, but why they feel that way. This deeper insight fosters a supportive work environment. ⚖ Well-being and Work Balance: A balanced approach to well-being and work significantly boosts job applications. When employees are happy and healthy, customer satisfaction soars, and productivity increases. 🤩 Happier Employees = Better Performance: Happier employees are more productive, leading to higher performance. Companies with a focus on employee happiness consistently outperform on stock trackers. Take care of your people, and they will take care of your business! 🤒 Addressing Health Conditions: Around 70% of health issues affecting employees stem from poor lifestyle choices. Companies can support their workforce by promoting healthier habits and providing necessary resources. ⚡ Looming Health Crisis: A major health crisis is on the horizon, affecting families, working-age individuals, healthcare systems, and those working longer. Cultural changes within companies are essential—commitment, engagement, and fun activities are key. ✅ Holistic Wellbeing: All aspects of wellbeing, including financial health, are important. Many neglect financial wellbeing, yet it is crucial for security and peace of mind. We were also proud to feature a workshop by Dr. Stefano BORZILLO, focusing on emotional intelligence and its impact on team wellbeing. His insights were invaluable in highlighting how emotional intelligence can drive a more cohesive and supportive work environment. Thank you to Chris Cummings, Sarah Cunningham, Dr David Batman MSc. Account Management, Brand and Event Marketing Communication Creative. Holistic Wellbeing Facilitator for humans.
Conversations with Tanja Wessels the other day sparked inspiration in me to share this post. As a holistic wellness coach and advocate of a 'Sustainable life', sustainability in regard to humans in the workplace frequently gets sidelined. We think that people can be burned out, side lined and replaced. Where is the sustainability edge here? I'm passionate about integrating comprehensive health practices not only in our personal lives but also in our professional environments. Humanistic approaches in the workplace revolve around recognizing employees as whole individuals, with unique needs, desires, and potentials. This philosophy advocates for an environment that fosters personal growth, self-fulfillment, and meaningful connections among colleagues. Integrating humanistic principles into holistic health involves encouraging open, empathetic communication, mutual respect, providing opportunities for autonomy and professional development, and prioritizing work-life balance. Humanizing the workplace benefits everyone by enhancing self-esteem, reducing stress, improving health outcomes and promoting personal growth for individuals, while increasing employee engagement, morale, job satisfaction, and productivity for organizations. The essence of a thriving workplace lies in recognizing that at the heart of every organization are humans. By embedding humanistic principles into the corporate culture, we pave the way for not just a more successful business, but a healthier, more vibrant workforce. #corporatewellness #holisticwellness #holisticwellnesscoach #humanresources #humanisticapproach

In the bustling hallways of modern corporate culture, certain phrases echo more frequently than others: "employee well-being," "workplace wellness," "holistic health." These terms, while vital, can sometimes risk being diluted into mere buzzwords. However, the Corporate Wellbeing Summit is designed to breathe life into these phrases, giving them depth, dimension, and genuine meaning. Our mission is steadfast and sincere. We envision workplaces where well-being isn't an afterthought but an integral part of the ethos. Where strategies are defined not just by productivity metrics but by the smiles, energy, and balance in every employee's life. As we gear up for this transformative summit in January, one critical aspect weighs on our minds: ensuring the integrity of the evaluation process for the prestigious Crystal Awards. We are acutely aware of the industry's concerns: • Bias & Subjectivity • Comparative Evaluation • Depth over Display Join us on this journey, as we redefine well-being in the corporate realm, keeping integrity, authenticity, and fairness at our core. #MissionWellbeing #CWS2024 #wellnessatwork #corporatehealth #employeewellbeing #workplacewellness #healthyworkplace

What if instead of burning us out, our employers built us up? This was the question in the promo of a webinar I was lucky enough to catch with Morra Aarons-Mele who was interviewing Deloitte's Human Sustainability Leader Jen Fisher 🦋. I’m a massive fangirl of Jen – she’s probably the most famous Chief Wellbeing Officer globally and for good reasons. I felt quite special having my observation around the pendulum swinging from employees having the power post-Covid to now employers given the economic conditions ☺️ Morra and Jen discussed the Deloitte 2024 Global Human Capital Trends report which shows that organisations that prioritise human sustainability can drive not only better human outcomes, but better business outcomes, too, in a mutually reinforcing cycle. 🌱 What is human sustainability? It’s the degree to which an organisation creates value for people as human beings, leaving them with greater health and wellbeing, stronger skills and greater employability, good jobs, opportunities for advancement, more equity, and heightened feelings of belonging and purpose. How GOOD does that sound?! Sadly not as good as the reality of the report which shows only 43% of workers say their organisations have left them better off than when they started 😢 Here’s a summary of the key things discussed that I found interesting 💡 🔑 Different generations have different thoughts on work ⚫ GenX and Boomers identified with work as their identity ⚫ Millennials and GenZ don’t think that work is everything and work is not their identity ⚫ Younger generations are willing to do the work and do a great job, but want to decide where and when. 💼 Return to Office Mandates 🟤 Covid demonstrated that people can work flexibly and still achieve (and even exceed) results while not working long hours or being in an office 🟤 Short-term thinking and reactive approaches observed in return to office mandates 🟤 A more strategic approach involving collaboration between leadership and workforce gets to core of issues real dialogue to solve problems together. 📊 Standardised Definitions and Metrics for Wellbeing 🔵 There is a lack of a consistent definition and measurement of wellbeing at work and many organisations address wellbeing related work under different conceptualisations (e.g. employee experience, engagement, organisational resilience, psychosocial hazard management) 🔵 Calls for moving beyond productivity as the sole measure in the workplace 🔵 Opportunity to combine specific metrics to standardised definitions for effective measurement. ⚖️ Shared responsibility 🟠 Agreed that employers should create supportive environments for employee wellbeing 🟠 Employees urged to take personal responsibility for setting boundaries and self-care 🟠 Stressed the importance of valuing human time and wellbeing over mere busyness. Could you safely say that your company is building it's people up instead of burning them out?

Sustainability for organizations means more than just their environmental impact—it includes how they create value for workers as humans. That type of human sustainability can come through sustainable work: where wellbeing and inclusion are embedded into the work, workforce, workplace, and wider ecosystem (and are also outcomes of doing this well). Large organizations spend an estimated US$10.5 million per year on wellbeing initiatives, with inconclusive results. How can they do better?
