New Intern Journey Update!!! Today marks my One Month Mark moving to Fort Worth, TX for my Internship with Amazon! Since this is my first ever internship here at DDA9, I wanted to come on here to share my excitement, and further emphasize how grateful I am to have started my internship journey at "one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world", as reffered to by PBS. Being thrown into an all new environment, having to learn foreign Amazon processes, and learning the infamous Amazon jargon while keeping up on facility and intern projects has been extremely hard, but challenges always rise up for a reason, and through all of them I have gained a much deeper understanding how I, or anyone for that matter, can genuinely do ANYTHING they set their mind to, just by putting in the appropriate amount of effort. I will hopefully share more on my journey as an Area Manager Intern along the way, but in the meantime, cheers to a great start, and opening up to many more! #intern #amazon #amazonintern #byui

Summertime is MBA/College Intern time…how was your last internship? Some weeks ago in our Amazon campus I started meeting some of the MBA/College interns who are spending the summer running some projects/innovations with us. Recently I attended some initial demos of their projects and I enjoyed seeing the freshness and boldness of some of their ideas, regardless of the feasibility/market readiness of them. It was the pure energy of innovation and drive to make an impact during their internship that was contagious. Some days ago we came together at a social event where I had the possibility to chat with many of them about their aspirations, doubts in the career and Amazon overall. Some of their questions were very insightful and were a testament on how much thinking they are doing about their career/job choices. One thing that I shared with them though, is that careers very seldom are a straight path and usually it is the turns that you take where you learned the most. There is no playbook for career. You hear many truths about career development from many people. Listen to other people’s truths and then create your own truth. I thought back about my last internship (some years ago I have to admit) where senior leaders shared with me views that I did not understand at that time but that I realized to be great advice some years later. This reminded me as well on the relevance of sharing your experience with your interns so you can have an impact on their growth, either through feedback on their projects, their code or their career decisions.
