💡 In the race to implement advanced #generativeAI on an enterprise scale, major cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, and Google are adapting their infrastructure to handle the demands of large language models and associated tools. This involves addressing challenges related to data storage, computational power, and the overall stress on existing cloud infrastructure. 💸 Efficient resource utilization is a key focus for these providers, coupled with a concern over cost efficiency especially with the shift to specialized computing forms, such as graphics processing units and AI-accelerating tensor processing units, introduces a new cost dynamic - investments in chips, servers and infrastructure (and the demand for computational resources for AI tasks has surged, leading to a competitive market. High demand, coupled with limited supply of specialized hardware, can drive up prices.) ⚙ While the focus is currently on training better AI models and identifying use cases, there is a shift towards fine-tuning technology for specific needs as these models transition to production. Overall, the challenge of adapting infrastructure to support generative AI is seen as an opportunity for cloud providers to increase market share.
