PROJECT UNDERWAY – 120 Thomas Street – WORCESTER, MA
Construction is well underway at 120 Thomas Street in Worcester, MA, for our client, First American Realty, Inc. The project involves demolishing the current atrium area and glass block exterior wall, followed by the construction of a new curtain wall, entry vestibule, and an accessible concrete ramp and stairs complete with stainless steel handrails. We're renovating the existing building to accommodate diverse tenants, and it's a pleasure to collaborate with the First American team and Dixon Salo Architects on this challenging project.

"I'd have to say that Fosters greatest strength would be communication... there were no surprises... and the quality of the build exceeded our expectations" says Property Developer Les Dobson.
With a focus on efficient construction, this four-unit 2,600sqm workshop and office structure comprised strip foundations, precast panels, and structural steel portals. The result is high quality, spacious and versatile industrial spaces.
The project was completed in August 2022, in a timeframe of 12 months. Some of the wettest weather on record, plus Covid, combined to create significant impacts - so the team did well to deliver the project on time and close to budget.

A month ago, we had the pleasure of having the talented crew from LCM Media on the Tishman Speyer UK Angel Square project to capture some of the fantastic work being produced by our site team. 🎥 📸
This project is our eighth structural alterations project and our fourth project for our client, McLaren Construction Group, and is by far the largest, most complex, and challenging to date.
The project is located within the London Borough of Islington and originally comprised three separate blocks sharing a common structure around a central external courtyard and a shared basement.
The building interfaces with the Angel London Underground station ticket hall and escalator bank, which descend through the basement of the building.
Upon completion, the project will create an exemplar building of contemporary architecture with high environmental aspirations, delivering significantly improved office accommodation to this part of London. 🏢
As part of our package, we will have carried out the following works upon completion:
1. Partial demolition of the existing building
2. Construction of a new reinforced concrete raft slab
3. Installation of underground drainage
4. Waterproofing installation
5. Construction of new reinforced concrete cores
6. Reconstruction of columns and slabs (including the infill of the central courtyard area)
7. Encasement of existing columns
8. Construction of two additional floors on top of the existing structure
We are currently almost 70% through our contracted works, all of which could not have been achieved without the hard work and dedication shown by everyone involved in this project. 👷♂️ 👷♀️ 🏗
Every single person has demonstrated their commitment to getting the project to this point despite the usual challenges that a job of this size and complexity brings, and we cannot thank them enough. 🙏
