At Gramo Joy Pre and Primary, Friday afternoons come alive with the laughter and energy of our young learners. Each week, our spacious community playground transforms into a vibrant arena of sports activities, where every child eagerly participates. This tradition started with the simple belief that outdoor play is the language of children—a universal mode of expression that speaks to their innate need for exploration, creativity, and social interaction. Imagine a typically reserved student in the classroom who blossoms on the field. With a soccer ball at their feet, they communicate effortlessly, forming bonds and learning teamwork. Through play, these students develop essential motor skills, resilience, and a sense of fair play. Outdoor activities also provide a natural platform for experiential learning, fostering problem-solving abilities and boosting confidence. Our sports afternoons are not just about physical exercise; they are a cornerstone of wholesome child development. Here, children learn to navigate social dynamics, express themselves freely, and build physical strength—all critical components for their overall growth. At Gramo Joy, we believe that every sprint, jump, and game played on the play ground contributes to molding well-rounded individuals. We are proud to nurture not just the minds but also the bodies and spirits of our students, ensuring they grow into healthy, happy, and balanced adults. Outdoor play isn't just fun—it's a vital part of childhood development, and we see its benefits unfold every Friday on our playground. #GramoJoy #ChildDevelopment #OutdoorPlay #SportsActivities #HolisticEducation #HealthyKids #PlayToLearn #ChildhoodDevelopment #Teamwork #PhysicalEducation #ExperientialLearning #HappyHealthyKids

In honor of #WorldBrailleDay, we’re throwing it back to last May when NDSS sponsored The Harkin Institute’s Dining in the Dark experience in collaboration with Voya Financial, Perkins School for the Blind, and the National Braille Press. Our President & CEO, Kandi Pickard, was honored to speak on a panel on increasing inclusion and accessibility in employing individuals with disabilities. Did you know? • Only 1 out of 5 blind schoolchildren use braille. • 84% of blind children attend public school. • There is a shortage of teachers qualified to teach braille. Per the National Braille Press, research has shown a positive correlation between a blind person's learning of braille and lifetime achievement. One study shows that only 30% of blind people are employed, but of this group, 90% are braille readers. Yet, families with blind children often have an uphill battle in ensuring that their child is taught to read and write. Even in today's technology-driven world, Braille can reduce barriers to information! E-Braille can help blind people surf the internet, text, e-mail, download books, and stay connected to the world as never before. For more information about Braille, visit https://www.nbp.org.

Championing a “whole child, whole family” approach to community impact – Organizational Development | Team Building & Leadership | Government Relations | Communities of Support
As a child, I was always sad to see my summer vacation end. However, I was equally excited to go back to school shopping. I have several great memories of the time shopping with my parents and bringing home the bag of school supplies. I think this is because my parents didn’t make this experience a chore but a fun activity. I wanted to share a few helpful tips: · Shopping Game - Craft a scavenger hunt out of your shopping list. It's fun and promotes problem-solving as your child navigates the store to find items. · Personal Choices - Encourage your child to select their supplies. It's an excellent way to respect their individuality and stimulate decision-making skills. · Classroom Contributions - Reach out to your child's teacher for a list of needed classroom items. Involving your child in this process fosters a sense of community and sharing. Back-to-school shopping is more than a to-do list task; it's about building anticipation for the new school year and creating special memories that your child will look back upon when they are my age. #backtoschool #qualitylearning #familyfun

Every weekend we get to set up sports class, so that our talented coaches can teach your children sports skills and so much more. What started as a solution to our own family’s desire for a kid’s sports program that was… 🌟 supportive 🌟 designed for beginners 🌟 non-competitive 🌟 judgement free 🌟 welcoming for all people 🌟 accessible and (most importantly) 🌟 fun! …has grown into a movement. A movement of parents who want to give their kids the world. A movement of coaches who want kids to be authentically themselves in enrichment programs. A movement of recreation departments, schools, parent organizations, sports leagues, youth sports businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, and more who want inclusive and equitable communities. A movement of kids who are changing our world with kindness, self awareness, understanding the importance of diversity, and the power of working as a team. Tag a friend or organization in the comments who should know about this movement that we are leading together 🙌🏽
