When we first announced these internships, we actually weren’t 100% we could afford to take people on but we took the gamble and it has paid off!
Although, since we weren’t sure, we didn’t want to advertise the position too much and we left it very late in the year to announce them. Our only promotion was a post on LinkedIn and a post on our Instagram story one day and despite that, we received 320 applicants!!
In addition, we were testing out a new hiring process in an attempt to make providing feedback somewhat scalable. I am proud to say that we did manage to provide every single applicant with feedback and a confirmed rejection instead of leaving them in the dark.
Sadly our current process did take some time and the feedback process doesn’t scale to the thousands+ yet but the confirmation of a rejection is at least something we can definitely offer.
As a team, we learned a lot about hiring processes along the way and it has been a great dry run ahead of our expected growth in the coming months and years.
I have become quite obsessed with processes over the past year, making sure every process is as automated and scalable as it can be without sacrificing culture and values along the way. There is still work to be done but there is a plan in place for it. As we look to complete another investment round in the coming months, it is important that the money is going into a business that’s ready to efficiently and effectively grow using that money and, more importantly, meet the ever-increasing demand from our market.
Long post, wasn’t supposed to be 😂 clearly passionate about this stuff.
Over the past few weeks, we have been joined by Karl Hartmann and Jack Mitchell-Divers on our summer internship program.
They have already made brilliant additions to the team, designing and prototyping products from scratch and responding to customer feedback to iterate on their work.
The great thing about joining Gibson Robotics for a summer internship is the size of the impact you can have on the company at this early and crucial stage!
We will be launching our internship program in November this year and our full-time team will be growing too! Follow us to be the first to hear of these opportunities.
