Three days of dynamic activities and collaboration marked our global OEM meeting in Mannheim, Germany. FUCHS SE hosted this exciting event from 25 to 27 June 2024. The meeting was a great success, where members of the company were able to present impressive sales results, underlining our commitment to excellence. We also emphasised the importance of e-mobility, reflecting our commitment to sustainable solutions. A highlight was the induction of 23 new team members, encouraging collaboration and team spirit. Our product management team presented exciting projects that promise innovation and growth. Developing new ways to re-use and recycle our lubricants is a big part of our ACT-program. For example, in the automotive sector FUCHS has collaborated with major OEMs to minimize disposal of spent fluids and reduce purchases of new fluids by using the recycled parts cleaner as makeup in the cutting fluid central system. Our former Chairman of the Executive Board Dr. Dr. h.c Manfred Fuchs received a special honor from the Universität Mannheim. On the occasion of his 85th birthday this year, Rector Prof. Dr. Thomas Puhl paid tribute to Manfred Fuchs' extraordinary commitment to the university. As a visible sign of gratitude, the University of Mannheim dedicated one of the most beautiful and magnificent trees on campus to him - a Caucasian wingnut. Since graduating in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim in 1963, Dr. Fuchs has been a constant friend and supporter of the university. His financial and personal commitment, including the renovation of the baroque palace in which the university is located and the financing of the #FUCHS Hall, have left an indelible mark. Additionally, Dr. Susanne Fuchs and Stefan Fuchs, also an alumnus of the University of Mannheim, were awarded the University Medal for their outstanding dedication. Their continuous support, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine crisis, has been invaluable. Notably, the Fuchs family provided important donations to support Ukrainian scholars affected by the war. Here’s a question for you: Imagine two engine oils. One is more modern but producing it generates more CO2 equivalents (CO2 eq). The other – a standard product – generates slightly less. Which one should you use to reduce emissions in the long run?   Correct, the higher-grade one! A comparative lifecycle assessment reveals why: It took more CO2 eq to make, but its better performance across the whole lifetime more than made up for that. Better lubrication = less friction = less gasoline. In numbers: around 0.8 tons of CO2 eq. And that’s just one car.   Examples like this show why lifecycle assessments are such an important tool on the road to sustainability and circular economy as we always want to have the whole lifecycle of our products in focus.
