My cozy little world has just been shattered. Thanks to the last 3 days spent at shift medical I was introduced to the real world of virtual and augmented reality in healthcare. Thank you Lars Riedemann, MD for having me there. My take-home messages: We are not unique. There are (and will be) more academic and commercial subjects helping healthcare professionals to train difficult communication efficiently through XR. It’s also a good thing we are not alone. Healthcare and academic institutions are interested in such a solution. There are many people with genuine interest in helping us. Just because it's a good thing and because it’s fun to be pioneers. Our interest was always in evidence-based medicine. But now it’s a bit stronger: Without data to prove the effectiveness of XR in difficult communication training, we're just hallucinating.

Two weeks ago, some of my VentureBlick teammates and I went to Düsseldorf, Germany, for 3-4 days at MEDICA – the world’s biggest medical trade show – to find new collaborators and partners in the field. In my earlier post about MEDICA, I mentioned jokingly about counting steps at this huge trade fair. But honestly, it wasn’t a joke. We walked and walked until our legs were tired. By the end of the day, even though we were excited about the new technology we saw, we were also really tired. And dealing with jet lag on top of that wasn’t easy. It takes a massive effort to bring 4,500 exhibitors and 81,000 people from all over the world to one place. Here’s a thought: Wouldn’t it be great if we could connect with everyone in the healthcare ecosystem on one online platform? Imagine this: A platform where anyone interested in healthcare innovation – advisors, innovators, investors, distributors, and ecosystem partners – could easily find and interact with each other. That would make it accessible to everyone, no matter where you are, and you could cover more ground in less time. We’ve been working on something like this. It’s going to be a community and marketplace focused on healthcare innovation. Healthcare innovators, advisors, investors, distributors, and partners can connect, find leads, and build partnerships globally.
