Corporate giving in the U.S. has declined over the years. In 2022, U.S. corporations donated 0.9% of their pre-tax profits, down from a peak in 1986 of 2% of pre-tax profits, according to the annual Giving USA report published by the Giving USA Foundation and researched by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. https://lnkd.in/e2YbeTgk

Nonprofit Consultant and Advocate | Fundraising Strategist | Corporate and Foundation Relations | Grant Writing | Donor Relations
The Center for Effective Philanthropy’s report on the impact of MacKenzie Scott’s groundbreaking unrestricted giving is available. The entire report is worth reading, but below are some things that stood out for me: ▶️ Inherent in this study’s structure is the fact that the nonprofit recipients were trusted as experts on the impact of these gifts. The nonprofits themselves, not external evaluators, were given the opportunity to report on their experiences with the gift. ▶️ This quote: “It is so refreshing as a veteran nonprofit person to have a donor say, ‘You know what? It’s up to me, it’s my responsibility to do the research about who I want to support. It’s not up to the charities to prove to me why I should support them, and I’m going to do this in a very organized, methodical, and data-driven way.’” ▶️ This quote: “It has emboldened us to be more strategic in fundraising by giving us a cushion to be more selective about restricted grants. This will put us in a much stronger strategic position going forward as we will be able to focus on funding that is better aligned with our strategy.” #nonprofit #mackenziescott #philanthropy

I help Christian charities to radically improve their fundraising and delight their supporters while staying true to what the Bible teaches about generosity and fundraising.
The definition of direct mail in three letters is: ASK. Every time clients try to mess up a fundraising letter by trying to hide the ask I think of this simple but powerful advice from William (Bill) McConkey, one of my teachers and mentors. If you are a direct mail fundraiser too make sure you write down these words and pin them on your board. #fundraising #christianfundraisingconsultancy #appeals #creativeagency #copywritingtips #faithbased #philanthropy

I was sitting in a CAP® (Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy) small group discussion when the attorney at the end of the table asked, "What can I do to help my client figure out where to donate?" This was not the first time I heard this question, and it became the inspiration for D.A.R.E. to Consider the Possibilities. The D.A.R.E. method is actionable and easy to implement. It puts you - the advisor - in the driver's seat as you help your client consider the possibilities for their charitable giving. What does D.A.R.E. stand for? Find out by clicking the image below to visit CompassConnect. Become a free Visitor member. Download the PDF of D.A.R.E to Consider the Possibilities. As a member, you can watch the Navigator's Notes video for suggestions on how to successfully implement the D.A.R.E. method in your practice.
