We had a great turnout of people from diverse backgrounds at the launch of our #CEFA12 last month. Anchored in the river #Shannon in the middle of #Limerick city for three days, this highly #innovative #cleantech #renewableenergy device went almost entirely unnoticed. So making it look somewhat like a boat from a distance actually paid off 😁 We demonstrated just how easy it is to install, with attachment to mooring taking only 15 minutes in inclement weather. It was detached and removed from the river the morning after the event in the same amount of time. Out of the many uses for this technology, one that comes to mind is quick response temporary emergency power in #naturaldisasters and #conflicts where power grids and generation infrastructure are damaged. In the near future we hope to work on this application of our #distributedenergy device. A huge thanks to the #cityxchange project and #LimerickCityandCountyCouncil for their support over these past years and forming a #stakeholderEngagement methodology which has increased our awareness of how our technology needs to fit in society and #queensuniversitybelfast Marine Research Lab Carwyn Frost Louise Kregting Nicholas Baker-Horne LILIA FLORES MATEOS for working to quantify both our power production and negligible #environmentalImpact of our device. This work on #CitizenEngagement and #EnvironmentalMonitoring is set to be continued by a team from University of Galway who are focusing on the advancement of tidal energy development and public acceptance Marc Ayoub Eva Lambert Marie-Christin Lanser Alireza Eftekhari I look forward to working with you all. #netzero #scalablecities #energysecurity #waterenergyfoodnexus #baseloadenergy
We've had a very busy few weeks here at GKinetic with a recent highlight being our #company #showcase day held at Shannon Rowing Club. 🙌 🎉 A huge thank you to everyone who came to support our work and vision. And what a novelty that our guests were able to step out the door and see one of our units right there in the River Shannon 💧 generating clean, predictable energy in a #SmartCities application! 🌉 Check out our video below and you can read more info here: https://lnkd.in/eXJfE_H8. A huge thank you to all of our guest speakers on the day: Mayor of Limerick Gerald Mitchell, Climate Action Coordinator @ Limerick City and County Council and Project Coordinator @ +CityxChange Kieran Reeves, Dr. Nicholas Baker-Horne from Queen's University Belfast, Dr. Colin Lawton Head of Zoology, School of Natural Sciences University of Galway and Dr. Emer Dennehy PhD, Programme Manager for Offshore Renewable Energy Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). #TidalEnergy undoubtedly represents the future of #Sustainable power generation. Marine renewable energy holds the key to addressing critical challenges such as #ClimateChange, ensuring #EnergySecurity, and delivering electricity to regions affected by natural disasters or those without access to the main grid, including islands and remote areas. Across the globe, visionary companies like GKinetic Energy Ltd are tirelessly working to tackle these issues head-on. With ongoing advancements in tidal energy technologies, the escalating costs of fossil fuels, and, most significantly, the devastating environmental consequences associated with them, the expertise and innovation of these companies will become increasingly vital. Together, we can pave the way towards a sustainable environment where future generations not only survive but thrive with pride, thanks to the responsible utilization of tidal energy and the collective commitment to a cleaner, more secure energy future.

Launching The Blue Harbour Project: A Journey Towards Environmental Revival Hello everyone, Today marks a significant milestone for us — the launch of The Blue Harbour Project. As the founder and someone deeply passionate about our planet’s well-being, I am thrilled to introduce this initiative. The Blue Harbour Project is more than just an environmental endeavor; it’s a commitment to future generations. We’re starting with the River Itchen, a river close to many of our hearts, and planning to expand our reach to more waterways. Our goal? To restore and protect the natural beauty and biodiversity of our waterways. But we know we can’t do this alone. This journey is about collaboration, community engagement, and collective action. In the coming weeks, we’ll share more about our plans, how you can get involved, and the difference we aim to make. We believe that every small step counts and together, we can create a sustainable, positive impact on our environment. Stay tuned, join the conversation, and let’s make a difference, together. #TheBlueHarbourProject #EnvironmentalConservation #CommunityAction #SustainableFuture

As a consultancy intimately involved in ecosystem services and nature-based solutions, we understand the role that natural capital can play in opening up opportunities for multi-functional green infrastructure and ecosystems. Through our engagement with the Scottish Forum on Natural Capital we hope to be an active participant in moving knowledge and practice forward. The Scottish Forum on Natural Capital promotes a Scotland in which all parts of society including businesses, NGOs, public bodies and communities recognise our reliance and impact on natural capital, and where leadership drives action to protect, value and rebuild our natural assets, both here and beyond Scotland’s borders.
