In New York, Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County has created Homeward Bound, a program that helps prepare prospective Habitat homebuyers for mortgage readiness. Participants receive financial counseling and individualized action plans that help them build savings, improve credit, reduce debt and more. Learn more. ⬇️

The Wells Fargo Foundation is providing more than $6.3 million in grant funding to support new home construction, renovation and repair projects across the U.S. this year in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity. As the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana, scales its efforts to revitalize disinvested neighborhoods, they’ve partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne to accelerate affordable homebuilding. In March of last year, the city transferred enough residential lots for the affiliate to build 32 affordable homes in Renaissance Pointe, a historically underserved neighborhood in southeast Fort Wayne. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom design that will be used for many of these new homes won the Best in Equity and Inclusion category in the latest Habitat House Design Contest. With support from corporate partners like Whirlpool Corporation, who has donated $375,000 toward our #CostOfHome campaign, Habitat for Humanity affiliates advocating for policy and systems changes across the U.S. that will make housing costs more affordable.
