Heartland Water Technology, Inc.’s Post

In April, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published their Steam Electric Power Effluent Limit Guidelines (ELGs) Final Rule for FGD wastewater. The rule focuses on zero liquid discharge (ZLD) for coal-fired powerplant Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) wastewater. Heartland utilizes a suite of on-site treatment technologies to reach regulatory standards and site Zero Liquid Discharge (#ZLD) targets. Flue gas desulfurization (#FGD) purge water is a byproduct of the process used to remove sulfur dioxide from exhaust flue gases in coal fired power plants, containing various contaminants including heavy metals and salts. Treating this #wastewater is necessary to meet environmental regulations and prevent pollution of water bodies. The case study Heartland Water Technology Helps Steam Electric Power Plan Achieve Zero Liquid Discharge outlines the application of a Heartland Concentrator™ to treat Flue Gas Desulfurization purge water. Read more on the project including background, challenges, and successful results below. https://lnkd.in/e9bmXRnb #power #coal #powerplants #purgewater #industrialwastewater #zeroliquiddischarge #fluegasdesulfurization #wastewaterevaporation #onsite #solutions
