Director, Miller Becker Center for Professional Responsibility

I look forward to working with the students who will join the M.S.L. program at the University of Akron School of Law this fall!

Professor Heather Zirke is Director of the Miller Becker Center for Professional Responsibility at The University of Akron School of Law and will be teaching Ethics for Legal Professionals as part of our Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) program. Heather received her Bachelor of Arts from Baldwin Wallace University and her Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University College of Law. She was previously principal of the Zirke Law Firm, concentrating in legal ethics, lawyer grievances and disciplinary defense. Prior to entering private practice, she spent 16 years as general counsel and bar counsel for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association where she investigated and prosecuted lawyer misconduct, allegations of the unauthorized practice of law and bar admissions matters. In Ethics for Legal Professionals, M.S.L. students will examine the rules governing the conduct of lawyers with a focus on how they are relevant to non-lawyers working in and around organizations involved in practicing law or legal proceedings. Ethics for Legal Professionals is part of the required core curriculum for the M.S.L. program and all students will take this course.
