Reminder for Students: If you are looking for a summer internship, try a restaurant. Seriously. I’ve interned at legal offices, asset managers and startup incubators, but NONE were as transformative as working as “front of house” (cashier, juicer, delivery driver) for 3 months at Pressed Cafe. It’s not the fanciest job or title. And sometimes I had to clean the bathrooms. But the experience was transformative. Here were 5 reasons why: 1. I learned to deal with angry customers (who changed their coffee orders a bajillion times) 2. I learned to work hard consistently (my shift started at 5am daily) 3. I learned the power of stories and branding (still shocked people spend $10+ for glorified water) 4. I learned to stay calm during chaotic lunch hour (triaging order-taking and table-cleaning and delivery-driving like crazy) 5. You learn energy is contagious and an upbeat attitude is EVERYTHING Plus, I got to work with my brother :) Ben Jacobson Have you ever worked in a service job? What was your experience?

Some organizations will simply turn and burn them with grunt work while others will welcome them to the inner circle and provide them life lessons regarding the industry. How do you view interns? I had a big change this summer. I hired a summer intern. And guess who?
