As the job hunt for many continues, I’ve heard this even more often. Recruiters don’t have enough time to give you feedback. But I’m curious on a recruiter that doesn’t provide feedback and doesn’t uncover a candidates ability to adapt to another role. In short, yes a candidate should be able to understand what took them out of the race so they can focus and re-align their skills to better work. By burning this bridge after turning down a candidate you are turning away a gold mine of those who will try harder to come back with the skills and qualification necessary. In the meantime the candidate may adopt those skills and transition to a role that better suits them, and the company will have lost a little bit more persuasion in case the role becomes availabile. My favorite recruiters have always been kind and communicative during the process. The companies I had to turn down were with recruiters that barely remembered that I’d interviewed with them and that after 3+ rounds without a timeline, feedback, or just some general information disappeared. It may take some time but if you see candidates that are missing time, or a skill or two please give feedback. You have no idea whether you’ve motivated or pushed someone to adapt better and stronger to get your company to its best level in the future. #companiesareunderreview #googleyourprospects #feedbackmatters
