My brother left school at 16 and completed an apprenticeship in carpentry. He was told that he would never be successful because he was stupid. Andrew has dyslexia and has to work 10x as hard to achieve certain things however, I think you'll agree that this is some of the best joinery in the industry. Andrew and his mate Steve started their own company last year and they are thriving, check out their Instagram page to see more of their work and book a consultation. Design, build, pristine finish. Did you know that more than 40% of all U.S. buildings were built at least 50 years ago? Last year, the American Institute of Architects reported that billings for rehabilitation work exceeded new construction for the first time in 20 years of tracking. As the inventory of existing buildings continues to grow in the U.S., leaders in the historic preservation community are sounding the alarm that the construction industry is in dire need of workers with historic trades training. Recent studies suggest that thousands of trade people with training in historic trades—such as masons, plasterers and carpenters—will need to enter the workforce each year to keep up with demand. In response, advocates are pushing to expand training opportunities and create registered apprenticeships in the historic trades that are recognized nationwide. Formal Education As a Teaching Assistant - National Service, I took time to study my students and I realized something: about 95% of the students learn just for exam… not for the Future, not for Skills and not for Building solid knowledge base. I became a TA not just to teach, but to instill hope in students and to at least contribute to reshaping their ideologies concerning formal education… the future of our country, we say. It is interesting to know that many (undergraduate) students don’t know that just as their other friends went to Mr. Carpenter (as apprentice) to learn the skill of carpentry or fashion design school (seamstress/Tailor) to learn that skill, they have also come to the university to learn skill(s) for life and career. I assisted in Lecturing not less than 600 students in Four different courses and what I am saying is true. #AskYourself For this 1 or 2 or 3 years in uni, what skill(s) have I or your ward acquired from the various courses that I/ he or she can harness or gain mastery of in order to fit in the systems in the life out there? #WhatdidIdo At the end of most of semesters, I will assess myself and write all the skills I have gained from the courses and begin to seek more info to harness them. Learn for The #Future, #Skills and #knowledge/ #Wisdom for life. #IamJoseph #ConnectWithMe Click 👉 https://lnkd.in/dVK3iH8f
