It's time we started looking beyond these boundaries to spark conversations, which in turn create real-world impact. Cos closets are for clothes, not for identities. 🌟Here’s a tip for HR and DEI teams across organisations as we head into Pride Month very soon: 🏳️🌈Let’s please go beyond the 1 day/week/month celebrations for PRIDE in June. That doesn’t truly help anyone besides professional goal sheets. 🏳️🌈Ask yourself - Does the LGBTQIA++ community look up to you as a loud and proud advocate and true ally or not? 🏳️🌈Action comes in different shapes and sizes. Whether it is consistently collaborating and supporting queer owned businesses, speaking out against discrimination or even actively seeking out opportunities to learn more about the community, there are a lot of things that can be done to empower the community depending on the stage of acceptance your organisation is in. 🌟Big or small, the idea is for your actions to be consistent and authentic. Something that helps you move the needle even a little bit.

As #PrideMonth2024 comes to an end, let’s remember to continuously celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community all year-round. At YLD, we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and continuously strive to improve our support for the LGBTQIA+ community. We recognise this day at Odyssey House Victoria to help us remember that LGBTQIA+ liberation and inclusion is a recent and ongoing event in history and that the community still faces high levels of discrimination.   Here are some ways you can be an active ally and support for the LGBTQIA+ community:   -Being intolerant of intolerance - call it out if it's inappropriate.   -Respecting pronouns - Not sure which pronouns someone uses? Just ask. Then use that pronoun and encourage others to do so.   -Not assuming someone is or isn't LGBTQIA+ - LGBTQIA+ people don’t all look a certain way, and many may not appear to be part of the community.   -Listen to LGBTQIA+ voices in your workplace and community - Listen with an open mind and heart to the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people.
