Join us in celebrating the I-95 Variable Speed Limits project—recently awarded the 2024 WTS International Innovative Transportation Solutions Award. This project was completed in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Transportation to reduce the high number of crashes and unreliable travel times on Virginia’s I-95 corridor. Look into how this women-led transportation project enhanced the 15-mile corridor with a customized congestion prediction algorithm: https://bit.ly/4bydDhE #KimleyHorn #Transportation #WTS #Award #VDOT

Our latest episode is now live . You can click here to listen - https://lnkd.in/eXAuwkPa. We talk about the recent NAO report into the DfT's Rail Reform programme, the recent DfT reorganisation and what the recent Budget has delivered for the railways. One of those three subjects takes us rather less time to discuss than the other two. No surprises for guessing which. We also talk about Open Access and the news that Grand Union Trains have been granted access rights to run 4 trains per day from 2025 between London and Stirling. This will mean 4 more trains per day on a massively congested route (the West Coast) providing a service to a market already pretty well served and using diesel trains travelling for over 350 miles on an electrified railway. You'll guess I'm not impressed. Indeed, since we recorded the show, we now have a proposal for a new service London to Wrexham via Wolverhampton, again using diesel trains throughout although at least in this case, part of the route is not electrified. I argue on the show that whatever your view on Open Access (I have never been a disciple) it's not the priority at the moment and is only likely to add to our collective problems, not solve them. #dft #openaccess #railways #rail #trains

We also hope that there will also be a conversation about our LSM TrainSense™ (Int. pat. pend.) technology is the solution to avoid such HPI / Collision events where warning signs, penalties and impact barriers do nothing to mitigate such catastrophic events. LSM TrainSense™ requires no other intervention and provides the Driver with Alerts when approaching Level Rail Crossings, whether they are active or not. AEB can also be integrated into LSM TrainSense™. #lsmbridgesense, #lsmtrainsense #bridgeengineering #bridgesense #bridgeimpact #bridgedesign #bridges #bridgecollision #teamlsm #railwaysafety #technology #innovation #creativity

🔙 On 16th of November 2023, AERRL, ALLRAIL, CER, EAL, EIM, ERFA, UIP, UIRR and UNIFE had endorsed a common position paper to express their support to the implementation of the centralised registration function as the European Vehicle Register (EVR) defined in the Commission Implementing Regulation 2018/1614 of 25 October 2018. With this statement, they had outlined the need to guarantee the freedom to choose a national registration entity if preferred and shared reflections about coding of the countries in which the vehicles are registered and access rights. 📢In the context of this ongoing reform, AERRL, ALLRAIL (Alliance of Passenger Rail New Entrants), CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies), ERFA-European Rail Freight Association, UIC - International union of railways #UICrail#UICrail, International Union of Wagon Keepers (UIP), UIRR and UNIFE | The European Rail Supply Industry Association have defined a new common position about the use of the current European Vehicle Number and a vision of its evolution. They highlight the advantage of the existing EVN structure as a speaking number and they advocate keeping the authorisation (managed by manufacturers) and registration (managed by keepers) processes clearly separate.
