Each year, the hotel and lodging industry gathers in Los Angeles for the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), with a series of events and speakers that always get ideas flowing. I had the opportunity to join two important conversations. First on an Industry Real Estate Financing Advisory Council (IREFAC) panel where I highlighted our record signings in 2023 and how we’re positioned to grow in 2024. Next, I joined ALIS DESIGN+, the first-ever extension of ALIS to the architecture and design professionals in the industry, to talk about Marriott’s approach to design and the critical role it plays in guest satisfaction. I wasn’t the only one taking the stage last week, with Marriott International leaders Rena Reiss, Leeny Oberg, Noah Silverman, Eric Jacobs, and Dana Jacobsohn providing perspectives on a wide range of topics, including our entry into the affordable midscale segment, growth in branded residential, expanding our lead in luxury, strength in extended stay, the evolving needs of our global customers, and the legal and financial underpinnings to support growth. Thank you to our extended team of ALIS attendees for sharing your insights and deepening important industry relationships. I am also proud to congratulate Mitchell Hochberg and Lightstone for winning the ALIS Select/Limited Service Development Deal of the Year Award. The Moxy/AC Downtown Los Angeles has been a vibrant addition to LA Live and I am grateful we could work together to bring this project to life.
