Today was a 𝙗𝙞𝙜 one for us. The goal? ... Simple. 𝗧𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. So, we rolled up our sleeves for a Business Strategy meeting. Our head office was alive with energy, 🔥 Fuelled not just by our ambition, But some sneaky local pastries that definitely sweetened our brainstorming 🥐 Meanwhile, our interstate management, joining in online, shared in the contributions. We talked 🗣 Ideas were exchanged 👂 Perspectives were challenged 💪 The discussion was rich, focusing on how we can better serve our clients and support our cleaning teams, reflecting deeply on our company's direction. How can we 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦? What can we do 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮? 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱? We have come to recognise that in the ever-changing landscape of the commercial cleaning industry, or any business for that matter, there's always room for growth. And for Cleancorp we're no exception. Today's meeting confirmed we're moving in the right direction, prepared to adapt and innovate. And now, with solid plans in place, we're set for an exciting future ✊✊ 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 💥

Listen Up! I have been part of so many conversations over the last few months about the importance of ‘speaking up’: a culture where providing challenge, sharing different perspectives, asking questions, raising concerns, speaking truth to power, bringing fresh thinking and ideas, and taking good risks is psychologically safe – for everyone - in an organisation. One of the things we see at Kin&Co most often is an over-reliance on systems, processes, rules, and formal communication channels to promote speaking up. While all these things are essential foundations, policies alone are not enough. In our experience, ‘listening up’ - at Exec and critically at Board level - is the secret ingredient that is most often overlooked. The sad truth is that far too often 'speaking up' can damage relationships, career prospects and job security. This means senior leaders who really want to see change and get this right for their organisations and their people are asking themselves tough and honest questions about their own mindsets, skills, behaviours an blindspots around listening up. 💡 Whose voices am I hearing now? Whose voices am I unconsciously biased to pay more attention to? Whose do I pay less attention to, and why?  💡 Do I see employees who speak up as loyal team members who want to make things better, or as ‘whiners’ who want to make things difficult.  💡 Are the micro-signals I’m sending - a full calendar, doing emails during conversations or constantly interrupting - really showing I am here to listen. 💡 If someone brings me bad news, challenges my thinking, gives me feedback, or shares a bold new idea - what is their experience? My first GMM with SoDA: The Digital Society this week in Mexico City. Processing all the new friends, learnings, and memorable moments. Agencies are a special bunch. It takes a certain kind of person to live that agency life ~ It is tough! But it can also be so rewarding, creative, and full of possibility. Top things I am leaving with from these few days: + It has been a tough year for most. Requiring deep resilience and adaptability. + The new creative work being generated is mind blowing. Sustainable design, AI influenced work, and breaking into the real world with community building in physical spaces + Leaders deeply want to support their teams in meaningful ways, so they really need to take the time to take care of themselves so they can show up the way they want. + There are so many demands or ideas on benefits their teams want (offices, remote, hybrid, 4 day work weeks, retreats, unlimited PTO, flexibility, high salaries, creative and inspiring work, etc etc etc). Companies can't do it all! Gotta decide what meets your values and lean into those. And so much more. Day 3 at SXSW Sydney was filled with more incredible insights, words of wisdom and valuable lessons 💭 My amazing itinerary was: 1. How Unleashing 60,000+ Years of Storytelling is Igniting Indigenous Leadership: facilitated by the lovely Mayrah Sonter and joined for a fabulous discussion with Lillian Banks (Bangarra Dance Theatre), Thomas E.S Kelly (founder of Karul Projects) and Kim Walker (NAISDA CEO). - “The most important thing is that culture, learning and art is at the centre of everything”. - “Every child in Australia should dance”. 2. How Brands Can Rewrite the Future - “Brands are part of the cultural conversation whether we like it or not.” - “Great brands choose what their purpose is and they stick to it, they don’t pick and choose when to deploy the message.” 3. Finding Your Mojo: the Search for Confidence and Hapiness with none other than the brilliant and super inspiring Ben Crowe. Had a bit of a fan girl moment and took about 6 pages of notes. Some highlights: - every morning, instead of writing a to-do list, write a “to be” list. The beauty of this, we can 100% control it. - “Busy” is not an emotion. We need to connect back with our human being, not just our doing (separate yourself from your business card). - Life’s not about YOU, it’s about the impact you can have on others. Focus on being interested, not just interesting. - “If you feel like you have to do something to be someone, you’ll never feel content or like you’re enough”. - - - I was lucky enough to finish the day with a film screening of “Dumb Money”, directed by Craig Gillespie (I,Tonya) which was fantastic! 🍿

Reflecting on my first year at the helm of Tarsus On Demand, the words often attributed to Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel," have been a guiding force. Transitioning from my previous roles within Tarsus Technology Group to leading this dynamic and widely recognised services and solutions cloud services aggregator, I've navigated a spectrum of new emotions, challenges and opportunities. I could not have imagined how challenging the past year would be and the learnings I would gain. Transitioning to this role I have had to navigate the complexities of managing both a business and its people, while navigating fluid and uncertain market conditions to align the company’s vision with market opportunities. All of this while balancing day-to-day operations and ensuring that the company remains efficient and competitive has certainly tested my mettle. Above all, the role of cultural champion, cultivating a company culture that values people, has been paramount. I don’t always get it right, but every day has been an opportunity to try again. Lastly, I have valued the opportunity to engage clients and partners, to build and maintain strong bonds to ensure our mutual long-term success. There is no doubt that this is only possible with a team of sojourners who believe in the same vision and equally dedicated to it. What a year. It's been a blend of learning, hard work, and fostering an empowering environment that will no doubt define our success. In this role, I'm committed to ensuring that our actions and interactions leave a positive, lasting impression, embodying the essence of Angelou’s profound insight. How often do you celebrate your progress?   At the end of every quarter my colleagues at Real8 and I spend a day or two reflecting on the progress we’ve made together, what we’ve learned and how we’ve grown. It connects us to the full extent of our abilities and energizes our movement in the direction we’ve chosen. We do not set targets. A direction and knowing that all of us will do our best every day is all we need. Reflecting, we often come back to the feeling that we’ve achieved and progressed more than we’d have been able to predict in advance.   Once a year we do our quarterly reflection in Amsterdam where we, to combine pleasure with pleasure, also share our continuously improved approaches to better collaboration at the Annual Global Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Summit by Cparity Event. Finally we go to one of our favorite places in Amsterdam, Proeflokaal Arendsnest (Herengracht 90), to top things off with a “kopstoot” (look it up!).   I highly recommend all three - reflecting on and celebrating your progress, joining the OpEx event in Amsterdam (13th-15th of March) and having a “kopstoot” in the company of people who inspire you.
