Nonprofit Hospitals Offer Less Charity Care Despite Rising Profits 🏥📈 From 2012 to 2019, profits increased from $43.01 million to $58.61 million for nonprofit hospitals, while charity care spending fell from $6.65 million to $6.36 million. 😕 Are they prioritizing their pockets over patients? 🤔 It's time to hold them accountable! #Healthcare #NonprofitHospitals #CharityCare #Profits #PatientCare #Transparency #Accountability #CommunityHealth #GiveBack #HealthcareIndustry #GetInformed #MakeADifference #SpeakUp #HealthcareForAll #RisingProfits #cathodehealthcare #medicalbilling

Excited to have the opportunity to volunteer with RMHC. Research indicates supporting the entire family during a child’s critical illness can improve resilience, reduce stress and enhance wellbeing for several crucial reasons: ✅ Emotional Well-Being: A child’s illness affects the entire family - parents, siblings, and extended family members experience stress, anxiety, and fear. ✅ Practical Assistance: Supporting the whole family enables the sharing of responsibilities to alleviate the daily burden of families managing critical illnesses. ✅ Financial Strain: Community resources, counselling, and financial aid can ease the burden of medical expenses. ✅ Sibling Support: Emotional support for siblings of critically ill children can ease related disruption and anxiety. ✅ Parental Health: Support for parents to assist in the maintenance of their own physical and mental health can assist in the provision of better care. ✅ Family Dynamics: Critical illnesses strain family relationships. Open communication, counselling, and support groups can help maintain healthy dynamics and ease the strain on family relationships. ✅ Child’s Recovery: Improved positive health outcomes have been linked to the provision of a supportive family environment.
While big brother Aidan is in the hospital, the Kam family have a warm, comforting place to stay close to him at RMHC Toronto. "When I'm at the hospital, I'm so grateful to know my littlest ones are just a short walk away with their dad, and I don’t have a long drive home at night," says mom, Aimee. "And thanks to RMHC Toronto’s meal program. I know that my family is eating well, too, when I can’t be around to cook." Your support is life-changing for families like the Kams. Experienced Chief Executive, Director, Trustee, Associate NED. North East Charity Leader of the Year (Oct 22). Asker of awkward questions, finder of simpler solutions, deliverer of real impact.
As surely as night follows day, if ICB’s continue to avoid their statutory responsibilities to properly commission and fund specialist palliative and end of life care more hospice services will reduce and close. There is already a shortage of hospice services. With further cuts we’ll see increasing numbers of people will die in pain and distress. Families will suffer trauma. Good years of life will be lost. This isn’t hyperbole - it’s what hospice care does. The historic funding model for hospices (second hand shops, raffles etc) has been broken for a long time. The govenrment recognised this and issues statutory guidance on how NHS funding should increase from around 30% to FULLY fund the specialist service the NHS is required to commission by law. For whatever reason, most ICB’s have disregarded this guidance. Yes money is tight but would they have done the same for maternity care, cancer care, hospitals etc? Would they suggest to those specialist teams that they do more fundraising to pay the clinical staff despite already maxing it out to cover their costs? There is something very odd going on here and some top level leadership urgently needed before entire hospices begin to fall over.
A new article in today’s Daily Express about hospice funding, in the light of cuts announced to the care service of Hospiscare in Exeter, following the similar news from Birmingham Hospice. If you look at the figures from Devon, it is clear this outcome has arisen as a direct result of exceptionally low levels of ICB funding, compared even to the average received by charitable hospices locally. Why would an ICB that only funds 15% of a care service not step in to prevent a hospice closing beds?

Sometimes in the midst of trying to raise gowns, we forget how truly special it is to do what we do as a community. We have been the catalyst for change in hospitals! We created hospital gowns that allow kids to still be kids at a time when they deserve it most. We appreciate everyone who has contributed, spread the word, and offered words of support. Behind every gown is a child and at any moment it could be one of our own. When we know better, we must do better! 🙌 Your actions make a real difference in real time! Many children are still awaiting sponsors, and together we can help change their hospital stay. If you or your organization would like to get involved, we need all the support possible to help continue our movement. We are a small team making a big impact. Our short term goal: Raise 4,000 Brave Gowns by June 30th. Longer Goal: Raise 100K Brave Gowns by August 30th. Today is the day!! Please donate to our low/no cost clinic. About us: Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona (TRSAZ) stands as a beacon of hope, helmed by Indigenous leadership and a deep commitment to health equity. Our mission extends beyond the clinic walls, aiming to restore vibrant quality of life across BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and veteran communities through the power of trauma-informed care. Utilizing a blend of innovative technology and evidence-based therapies, we strive to address the nuanced needs of those touched by trauma, ensuring our services resonate on a deeply personal and cultural level. Join us in our relentless pursuit to heal, empower, and transform lives, as we work together to mend the fabric of communities historically burdened by trauma. Reach out if you have any questions or would like to meet to discuss our work and how you can help. 602-661-0200 Please share and donate today. We offer 20% of our services at low or no cost. This means we reserve 20% of our therapy services and offer them at a reduced cost (usually $22 or in some cases pro bono). We were recently blessed to receive fiscal sponsorship from TAPAZ, so we’re able to fundraise for this clinic. The good news is that some of your donations are tax deductible! Here in Arizona, the charitable tax credit for 2024 is $470 single, married filing separate or head of household; $938 married filing joint. We’re doing our first round of fundraising in conjunction with Arizona Gives Day 2024. Help us reach our goal of $10,000. This will cover the costs of therapy sessions for your friends, neighbors and those in need. No amount is too small. It's the second Friday of the month...meaning today, we need YOU!🚨 This Fundraiser Friday, we're striving to fulfill our initial goal from last month to raise $5,500 to stock our ambulance fleet with 28 Slishman Traction Splints. So far, you guys have already raised close to $1,000!!! Designed to overcome the operational difficulties of older traction splints, the STS Gen2 is the fastest splint to apply, reducing on-scene times and maximizing patient comfort. Unlike other traction splints, the STS Gen2 requires no individual poles or complicated mechanisms to assemble. It can be applied in under a minute, making it the go-to solution in emergencies. The traction mechanism is found at the patient's hip, with femur traction applied by extending the pole segments. This creates a pushing force on the ankle or distal strap, rather than pulling distally from the foot as with conventional traction splints. The STS Gen2 is lightweight, weighing only 17 ounces, and its compact design takes up little space. Additionally, the STS Gen2 is one size fits all, eliminating the need to carry multiple sizes. Traction adjustment is easy to accomplish for maximum patient comfort, and the STS is radiolucent, eliminating the need to remove the splint for patient imaging or exam. Overall, Its advanced design and versatile features make it a must-have device for EMS agencies who frequently encounter leg fractures. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3), we rely directly on the community we serve for support. Lancaster EMS does not receive direct tax dollars. Will You Be Today's Hero? Thank you to all who have already donated! Your contribution makes a difference! #fundraiser #ems #firstresponders #Fundraising https://lnkd.in/d_xtr9xw

Today for #HospiceCareWeek I want to say thank you to the dedicated fundraisers, shop workers, grant seekers, finance managers, volunteers, human resources and support staff that keep services running. https://buff.ly/3PHNXpZ Hospice UKs latest report highlights the significant shortfall in funds that are affecting our sector https://buff.ly/3F7ZyJY - £47 million in two years. It varies but government funding can be less than 20% of our costs with the shortfall made up from charity. The five goals in the manifesto from Hospice UK, Marie Curie UK, the National Bereavement Alliance, Sue Ryder and Together for Short Lives are: 1. Deliver a new funding solution for hospices and palliative and end of life care to end the postcode lottery in access 2. Introduce a national delivery plan for palliative and end of life care in every nation to support delivery of local services 3. Guarantee that palliative and end of life care services meet each individual’s needs, including those of people dying at home 4. Act to ensure that nobody dies in poverty and tackle inequalities in palliative and end of life care 5. Improve support for families and carers of people with a terminal illness https://buff.ly/3rFalbt
