Multifamily Workshop Series Post 8 of 10 The main goals of asset management include maximizing value, maximizing returns, and minimizing risk. The responsibilities of an asset manager span the three pillars of acquisitions, ownership, and disposition. I mentioned during the presentation that investors may want to consider asking sponsors for some samples of their ownership models when considering their next investment. Most sponsors will show the underwriting models, but what about ownership and disposition? You could argue how they have managed previous assets and handled new information during the ownership period is far more important than a projection before ownership. If they don't have models to track the performance of the assets they own and run multiple scenarios throughout their ownership, they may be more passive beneficiaries of market forces rather than active asset managers capable of navigating challenges. ------------------------------------------------- I recently held a two-day workshop for new multifamily investors, covering key areas such as financial analysis, deal structuring, and asset management. While each topic could have merited a comprehensive course on its own, I believe we achieved a comprehensive overview. The goal was to enable investors to ask pertinent questions and delve deeper into areas where they needed more insight.
