"Constantly fighting my instinct to direct my own actions, socialize with loved ones, and get outside eventually led to burnout. I wasn’t alone. My peers were also sleep-deprived, anxious, self-medicating, and unable to enjoy the simple pleasures in life." Modern work and the built environment are making us miserable. https://lnkd.in/efhtrYVP

🌟🌱 "Letting go to grow" - what a profoundly relatable concept, especially in the journey of recovery and transformation! 💫🌈 As a social worker and clinician in the SUD field, and someone in long-term recovery myself, I deeply resonate with this thought-provoking post. 🌹🌍 Letting go of the 'good-enough' to embrace the truly great is a step that's both terrifying and exhilarating, akin to stepping into uncharted waters. 🌊🚀 In my work, I often counsel clients and use my own journey as a testament to the power of courageous change. 🤝💖 Whether it's leaving a limiting mindset, a toxic environment, or an unfulfilling job, the decision to step away is a brave declaration of self-worth and a commitment to personal growth. 🌻🔥 Your point about evaluating if a job aligns with one’s lifestyle, skills, and professional goals is spot-on! As a peer support, I believe in fostering environments where individuals can thrive, not just survive. 🌈🙌 The agony of staring at the clock is a silent scream for change, a nudge towards a path that's more fulfilling and purposeful. 🕒💔 For anyone contemplating this leap, remember - your well-being is paramount. 🧘💡 Mental health isn't just a buzzword; it's the cornerstone of a life well-lived. If your job is draining your spirit, it's time to reevaluate and recalibrate. 🧭❤️ This message is a timely reminder that life is not just about existing, but thriving in our true essence. Let's choose to live by design, not default! 🚀🌟 #CourageToChange #LettingGoToGrow #SUDRecovery #MentalHealthMatters #PeerSupport #LifeByDesign #SocialWork #PersonalGrowth #SelfWorth #ThriveNotSurvive #TimeForChange #EmbraceTheJourney #Empowerment #Transformation Jodie Pagano Lee Roberts CTP Monica Phillips

Transformational leadership coach for introverted senior leaders - Helping you to lead with confidence, passion and authenticity.
As an introvert, my people pleasing led me to the brink of burnout. Back in 2021, I was working part time but had taken on more work than my full time colleagues. I was working in excess of 10 hour days in the office and it was affecting me outside work. I'd get home, totally exhausted, be very short tempered with my children and husband, and spend the rest of the night feeling mum guilt for shouting at the kids and rushing them into bed because I just wanted time to myself! How did I get to that point? Well it was simple I was constantly saying 'yes' to others, even when my mind and body were shouting 'no'! By saying yes to everything, I over-worked myself, exhausted my resources, and ultimately ended up sacrificing my own well-being. I was putting others first and trying not to disappoint people, however, all this did was drain my energy levels and affect my mental health. I knew I couldn't go on this way as otherwise something was going to break! I started putting in boundaries to protect my energy levels, I focussed on what I needed more and I invested in myself. I realised that saying no is not a sign of weakness, but instead, a strength which enables me to work to the best of my ability. Now I am in a much happier, healthier place. I am far better at protecting my time, I have better control over my energy levels, including where I use it, and that stress, worry and anxiety has gone. I am much more present with my children and husband and far less irritable than I was. The unexpected benefit of all of this, was the opportunity it opened up for me! I started my own business helping introverted women in a similar position, to lead others on their terms, in a more authentic and confident way, and I LOVE it! So next time your gut tells you to decline, listen to it. Your mental and physical health will thank you, and who knows what amazing opportunities it will bring for you! #introvert #leadershipcoaching #peoplepleaser #energy #health

Recent tragic incidents involving individuals in the legal and corporate sectors have cast a stark light on the mental health challenges many of us face in today's fast-paced world. It's a sobering reminder that amidst the pursuit of success, we may often find ourselves feeling isolated and overwhelmed. In a society that glorifies achievement and perpetuates the myth of constant happiness through social media, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters: genuine connections and mental well-being. We need to acknowledge the importance of family and true friends, those who stand by us through thick and thin, providing a shoulder to lean on and a safe space to confide in. In a world where we're pressured to constantly project happiness and success, it's essential to recognize that it's okay not to be okay sometimes. Having a place where we can openly express our struggles and vulnerabilities without fear of judgment is invaluable. Whether it's a family member, a trusted friend, or a professional counselor, having someone to listen can make all the difference. Moreover, every individual deserves to work in an environment that respects their dignity and values their well-being. No amount of success or financial compensation is worth sacrificing one's mental health. Toxic work cultures have far-reaching consequences, and sometimes, it's necessary to prioritize our own mental wellness over material gains. So, I urge all my young connections, to prioritize meaningful connections over virtual likes and followers. Take the time to nurture genuine relationships beyond the confines of social media. Reassess and redefine your definition of success, recognizing that true fulfillment comes from a balance of personal growth, meaningful relationships, and mental well-being. And if you find yourself struggling, please remember that there is always help available. Your life is too precious, and your well-being matters. The pain of losing you would reverberate far beyond yourself – it would deeply hurt those who love you the most, especially your parents, who cherish you more than words can express. Let's work together to create a culture that values authenticity, empathy, and mental wellness. Together, we can build a world where no one feels alone or unsupported in their journey towards success and fulfillment. #weekendmusing #authenticconnections #mentalwellbeing

🌟 Embracing Personal Challenges: A Journey Towards Mental Health 🌟 Sharing personal stories can be hard, but reflecting on the transformative journeys that lead us to where we are today can be massively beneficial. 💪🌈 There is immense power in embracing personal challenges and the incredible opportunities that can arise from them. 🚀✨ A few years ago, I found myself facing a daunting health issue, one that was a direct result of excessive stress in my work life. Personal Trainer & Confidence Coach helping Men get their swagger back; effectively overcoming the pain and depression of a break up or divorce!
Maintaining a happy, encouraging, and supporting atmosphere is critical for our mental and emotional well-being. Our friends, family, and acquaintances influence our attitudes, views, and outlook on life. When we surround ourselves with individuals who are positive and encouraging, we are more likely to feel inspired, motivated, and optimistic about our own life. Being in a negative, critical, and poisonous environment, on the other hand, can have a negative impact on our mental and emotional well-being. Positive relationships provide a source of strength and resilience during difficult times. When we have a supporting network of friends and family members who encourage us, guide us, and provide emotional support, we feel more confident and capable of overcoming challenges. These interactions foster a sense of belonging and connection, which protects against stress and adversity, encouraging stronger mental and emotional resilience. Furthermore, positive interactions provide a sense of shared growth and development. When we surround ourselves with others who share our values, interests, and aspirations, we are more inclined to participate in activities that benefit our minds, bodies, and spirits. Positive connections promote personal growth and self-improvement through activities such as sharing hobbies, engaging in meaningful conversations, and doing acts of kindness and generosity. On the other side, unhealthy connections can have a significant impact on our mental and emotional health. Toxic connections, problematic family relationships, and unsupportive acquaintances can sap our vitality, lower our self-esteem, and weaken our overall well-being. Constant criticism, judgment, and negativity can create a vicious cycle that promotes feelings of worthlessness, anxiety, and despair. It is important to understand when relationships are negatively impacting our mental and emotional health and take proactive efforts to avoid toxic influences. This could include setting boundaries, seeking help from trusted friends or professionals, or even discontinuing relationships that are persistently harmful to our well-being. By putting our mental and emotional health first and surrounding ourselves with positive, uplifting, and supporting individuals, we may develop growth, resilience, and general well-being. #PositiveVibesOnly #SupportiveCircle #HealthyRelationships #ChoosePositivity #EmotionalWellness #FriendshipGoals #UpliftAndInspire #MindfulConnections #SelfCareCommunity #NourishYourSoul

Self-care is far too underestimated in the world today. We spend so much time being busy and taking on more, as though our success is somehow measured by how busy and stressed we are. As people, we need to be better at setting boundaries for ourselves. As leaders, we need to be better at encouraging our teams to take time for themselves. Burnout is a real thing; every day, it impacts the health and well-being of the people we serve. If we expect them to give us their best, we should give them a culture and an atmosphere where they can be their best. You can’t give your best to others if you’re not giving your best to yourself. So, take that vacation, start that new hobby, and make time for your friends and family. You deserve it.

Stop walking on eggshells! Feel more seen, heard, and respected, without sounding like a jerk. I help people-pleasers find their voice and reclaim their power. ✪ Confidence Coaching ✪ Emotional CPR ✪ Family Dynamics
Hey folks, ever heard of an emotional recession? It’s like when the economy takes a nosedive; but for our feelings. Turns out, we’re in one right now. What does that mean? Well, it’s where there's a long stretch of time where people feel emotionally drained. Mentally exhausted. Have you noticed around you that people seem less motivated, have difficulty feeling empathy when another is struggling and their stress coping skills seem stretched? Basically, it’s a tough time for connecting with others which deeply impacts our mental health. It's OK if you realize it's you right now. Self-awareness is the first step to getting it under control! 🤗 Whether we're the ones shutting other people out, or just having trouble finding that empathetic shoulder, there seem to be fewer resources to go around. According to the latest data, Emotional Intelligence (EI) and wellbeing have been on a downward spiral for four years straight. Six Seconds CEO Joshua Freedman (an EI guru) says folks are feeling more all over the place, less connected, and struggling to understand their own emotions. Not great, right? Not very scientific, but, in my circle, I have noticed more people are being diagnosed with burnout, more are quitting their jobs in exasperation instead of something strategically planned out, and more people are leaving their relationships. But hey, there’s a silver lining. Emotional skills can be learned and improved. (People with a growth mentality do this naturally.) And while things are rough, not everyone is affected the same way or at the same time. Hopefully, while one person is having a rough day, another person temporarily carries more of the load. With the elevated awareness and conversations around mental well-being, we are starting to see some bounce back from this emotional recession. Smart organizations are proactively developing cultures of goodwill and healthy workplaces and bring in experts. So I have 2 questions for you: What industry do you work in? Has your employer ever brought in training to counter the chronic stressors of life? I appreciate your insights into what kinds of companies you think value stress reduction and/or mental wellness training. #emotionalintelligence #mentalhealth #wellbeing #wellness #stress #peoplepleaser #confidencetraining #boundaries
