Polarization too often blinds us to the fact that people on the 'other side' are complex individuals, not clones of each other. The more we know about our opponents' lives, the more animosity fades. https://lnkd.in/d5qNyCHF

Best explanation I have read so far by David Brooks: “Whether you’re on the MAGA right or the social-justice left, you define your identity by how you stand against what you perceive to be the dominant structures of society. Groups on each side of the political divide are held together less by common affections than by a common sense of threat, an experience of collective oppression. Today’s communal culture is based on a shared belief that society is broken, systems are rotten, the game is rigged, injustice prevails, the venal elites are out to get us; we find solidarity and meaning in resisting their oppression together. Again, there is a right-wing version (Donald Trump’s “I am your retribution”) and a left-wing version (the intersectional community of oppressed groups), but what they share is an us-versus-them Manichaeism. The culture war gives life shape and meaning.” https://lnkd.in/gYYa3CQW?

CEO & Founder of the Authentic Leaders Institute, creating authentic leaders capable of leading us forward
The horror of our creations and the indiscriminate way they are used against innocence, against children and families is difficult to comprehend especially when conducted by those whose own history has the worst example committed directly against a people. What madness can create such horror, how can humans lose their humanity so easily. The truth is the boundary of madness driven by hate is not that far away for each of us, the proof is being enacted in every horrific detail by the distorted against our innocent selves. When visiting Oradour - sur - Glane, a whole town massacred on June 10th 1944 for supporting resistance, 643 lost, children, women, the elderly, all as a lesson by the occupier. Amid the somber and respectful, the realisation that we did this, not someone not like us, but someone borne the same as us. We are capable of everything or nothing, as the indifference of some and the hatred of others shows. While all possibilities exist, it’s the balance between them in any one moment that determines our actions. When did you last get angry or rash, before you took back control. The gift of existing is that all possibilities exist, however we have yet to grasp the reality of our existence and therefore we still allow the morally unsound to lead. Nothing human is created without our presence, creating something better is not only possible, it’s now imperative. Lead from within, create a better reality for all from where you are and eventually we will meet. #notinmyname #endthismadnessnow #evolutionoverrevolution

🌿 People in our lives might not always be supportive of our anti-diet ideas, Body Trust work, and fat liberation. So it's important to find the people who are supportive of your Body Trust journey. When you become part of a community of folks who see you and accept you wholly for who you are, it is infinitely easier to reclaim Body Trust. You learn how to be confident and free of shame when you see other fat folks living confidently and authentically in their bodies. According to Bobbie Harro, the creator of the Cycle of Liberation and the Cycle of Socialization, healing is more possible in an equitable community that cultivates the hope that together you can dismantle oppression. Instead of feeling oppressed, you become more in-touch with your humanity through collective action. We encourage you to find at least one other person to share this journey with who won't gaslight you 🤍 #CenterForBodyTrust #InclusiveCommunity #BodyLiberation #SelfLove #EmotionalSupport

From the depth of my heart, today. I have been grieving the loss of a cherished friend these past few weeks; we met as anti-war activists over 20 years ago. His loss reminded me of the importance of love in social justice and anti-colonial work, especially reclaiming the idea and the purpose of love. We have been led to believe that love means giving up your power. Love makes you stupid and vulnerable. Love is to be given rather than reciprocated. That those unlike the group we identify with are unworthy of love. Worse yet, that we are unworthy of love but we need to keep working for it, asking for it, begging for it. And that we accept the unacceptable out of a misguided notion that love is self-sacrificing and full of pain. Nothing could be further from reality. True love is strong, empowering and protective. It comes from our gut and is grounded in integrity. It is courageous and active. And it transforms us and everything around us. To me love is… Prioritizing and taking care of our well-being and co-creating the environment where everyone can do the same. Standing up for ourselves in personal and professional settings and creating and maintaining healthy boundaries. Supporting others to do the same. Dismantling institutional and societal oppression, theft and violence in all forms. Caring enough about relationships to change the way we communicate and hold ourselves and others accountable. Creating space so others can join the table; holding space so they can fully contribute and benefit from the experience. Taking pauses. Operating from thoughtfulness, critical analysis and responsiveness. Cultivating humility and humanity, continuous learning and growth. BDS. DEI. Climate restoration. Encampments. Solidarity. Protests. This is isn’t politics or subversion. This is expansive and inclusive love in practice. Tell me your powerful acts of love. Who moved and changed you like my friend John moved and changed me. 💗 Let’s keep building this movement - we have a world to win. In strength and solidarity, friends. 💗👊🏽💪🏽 Image via Enlightened Consciousness on FB. PS #zerotolerance for nonsense in the comments.

The world is a shared space for all living & non-living beings, yet we are surrounded by stark contrasts and indifferences. Why do these indifferences exist? We often accept them as mere facts of life, seldom questioning their origins or legitimacy. When someone dares to voice out against these disparities, their efforts are frequently dismissed or undermined. This blindness is fuelled by human insecurities, casting a shadow over our perception & understanding. These insecurities are the root cause of many of our social issues. They create a toxic environment where boasting, self-pride, vanity, and selfishness thrive like a valiant king. However, overcoming these indifferences could lead to a transient shift in our both sub & unconscious mind. Imagine a world where insecurities no longer dictate our actions, where we embrace equality and respect for all. This transformation would not only demolish the cruel barriers of indifference but also pave the way for a more compassionate and inclusive society. Let's challenge this monster, break free from the shackles of our insecurities, and strive for a world where every being, living or non-living, is valued and respected... Let's create a better environment... #blog4 #novicetowise #contentcreation #Perception #Indifferences #Equality #HumanInsecurities #Compassion #Inclusivity #BreakingBarriers #SocialChange #Empathy #WorldForAll

Dear Neuroaverage People, In this world of abundance, where everyone is said to have everything, here's your gentle reminder that you DON'T have ownership to ...the neurodivergent/disabled people you care and support for as a parent/caretaker, professional or even a friend ...or their lives ...or their wants ...or even their needs ...their story ...their perspective ...their voice ...their lived experience ...their challenges ...their access to accommodations ...support assigned to them personally ...their representation ...their money and belongings ...their hopes and dreams ...their future ...their achievements ...or recognition and rewards they may gain from those achievements Your support is welcome. Often it is necessary, even. But it does not give you power over them or their lives, or entitle you to take what belongs to them as individual human beings. As humans, they are fundamentally equal with you. If you can't respect that and if you can't find from your heart the goodwill to support them unless supporting gives you an opportunity to control them and benefit from them then...you need to back off slowly from them and find someone more suitable to do your job. If you see support as a trade where those who need support must pay for it by giving up their #HumanRights or other fundamental rights their non-disabled/neuroaverage peers normally enjoy, you are not an ally. You basically hold them hostage. You are an abuser who takes advantage of another's vulnerability. I trust that deep down, you are decent people. So please learn the difference between true kindness and supportiveness vs. thinly masked abuse. Stay on the right side of history. Thank you.

This week had a lot of folks tell the striking SAG/WGA folks “This was cute and ‘important’ when I wasn’t impacted but now that I am - I’m over it.” It’s a good lesson in solidarity meaning actual sacrifice and the pain that happens when folks drop solidarity. It is instructional for folks fighting for multiracial/multicultural society because when this happens it is normally a marginalized group that feels the pain of solidarity being dropped the second it is inconvenient. That has been so deeply normalized we can rarely see it when not in the marginalized group. But you can see Barrymore, Maher, the View. So internalize that knowing so your disassociation of the pain inflicted of a lack of solidarity with race, gender, sexuality, class, ability, etc becomes more clear. This is what it feels like for those groups too. Crushing pain that you’re an acceptable tradeoff, demoralization, anger, crushing disappointment - all of it. Solidarity is our biggest tool to fight growing inequality and the abuses that come with it. But it will require communal sacrifice. We should morally prep for that. I would even go as far as saying that when sacrifice is needed from a larger more “mainstream” group of people. It “feels” wrong. Like it must be a strategic mistake or miscalculation. And no, that’s just you rerouting power. That’s gonna feel wrong or risky to a new group of people. Challenging and changing power will always be the redistribution of risk.

It’s wild how society has shifted to parasitically earning off the 10,000 people on earth doing well. They ignore the grand majority make $2 to 20 per hour. The sycophants have destroyed society. Renting a shack in the hood in 1200 to 1500 through middle man upstart realtors looking to become millionaires by the end of the year. The anti human nature of capitalism is terrifying but people are too busy trying to win. But honestly. I believe most have quit any hopes of improving society. And their proposals for saving the world are all narcissistic. Until we can have respectful conversations willing to admit we’re both wrong, and truth exists in commonalities and consensus alone. We are all fucked. No more assumptions or ad hominem attacks. No more violence and no more crime. And no more people who rather be rich than have healthy marriages, relationships, or ensuring their neighbors are good. It’s horrifying the times we are living in right now. If you studied German history as I have done. USA is akin to Nazi germany before it began violently murdering its neighbors and own citizens. And I feel like the only man in America with any interest in preventing problems. Rather than reacting to issues or denying the issues exist. And they are indeed the fault of men because we have positioned ourselves as the end all be all. But I haven’t met a single American man interested in justice, fixing America, or even changing laws or policies. The women are outraged and ready to flip the tables over. The men are willing to watch everyone be enslaved or murdered just to feel like field niggas for another century.

People have to call you crazy because they're too prideful to admit you're smarter than them, or too lazy to do the work to change their perspectives. This is what leads prophets and great men to die, and people continue living under oppression. The discomfort of no longer being a slave is a greater inconvenience to Americans than being free from debt and wage slavery entirely. The indoctrination for most is so deep, and the willful ignorance of another perspective exceeds their capability to even entertain disagreements or criticism. The men of the past said America was ripe for a revolution, but they did not specify it would be class warfare as the rich attempt to psychologically manipulate a permanent labor class, and move people to live on the internet or cyberspace while life around them dies. All to make a few more bucks. For little more reason than because Americans were lied to for 5 generations straight, all our leaders were killed white or black, the people are divided over the pettiest and dumbest arguments, and the world gets worse because people cannot even function within their families let alone communities or society. To even process the idea of a revolution would be negligent to human life on planet earth, or to Americans. The amount of trauma Americans have endeared, and forced to swallow for the sake of 15% of the population to get rich while 85% struggle to find the virtues of contentment being exploited for labor or sex. By people who absolutely detest them. The brainwashing to love and live for the validation of people who hate you, want nothing to do with you and justify the most inhumane abuse against you is the biggest hamartia in American culture. We collectively rather live for the attention of strangers, in hopes of living a reckless hedonistic lifestyle. Rather than fix life for people already at our level, already around us, and who love us dearly. Be wealthy, be rich, but be human not a democrat or republican. Be human above your skin color, religion, or class BS. Identify first and foremost as human and help all humans live a better life for the first time in human history.

A Dance of Charades: Review of Screens and the Ego :: Mark James "It is a culture at large in which doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, teachers, professors, journalists, and the like, are forced to play along in a dance of charades. A Meditation on Freedom cuts to the chase: freedom in the US has evolved away from a political meaning of freedom from despotic government into a social, do-what-you-want free-for-all hedonism. Truth is an affront to modern freedom. Jane-Marie Auret gives hope, however, that all is not lost as society becomes increasingly aware of the impacts of social media on younger generations and, hopefully, course-corrects." https://lnkd.in/eCF7TRSp
