NMF has the unique pleasure of attending Aspen Ideas: Health, happening now! Amongst an exclusive audience of other thought leaders, our President and CEO, Michellene Davis, Esq., attended a panel discussion that explored "How To Dismantle Structural Racism in Health?" We are grateful to be invited to this event by Ruth Katz the Director of Aspen Ideas: Health, Vice President and Executive Director, Health, Medicine, and Society Program, Aspen Institute. We're proud to recognize some new and familiar faces as they reflect on health disparities, dismantling systemic and structural racism, and more. This panel includes Rich Besser, the President and CEO of the RWJF (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation), Nicholas St. Fleur a Science Reporter and Host of "Color Code" Podcast at STAT, an NMF alumna, Aletha Maybank, MD, MPH the Senior Vice President and Chief Health Equity Officer of the American Medical Association, and Rachel Hardeman, PhD, MPH the Director of the Center for Antiracism Research for Health Equity at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. At NMF, we often vocalize the impact of systemic and structural racism within our health care systems. It is imperative that leaders like those who participated in today's panel continue to advocate for change and seek means to continually implement solutions. Our communities of color feel the brunt of health inequities the most and we need to address this today. #AspenIdeas #AspenIdeasHealth #HealthEquity

This paper describes how state and local health departments can bolster their health equity efforts. The authors outline 5 themes (I moved 5 to the first place): (5) including impacted communities in the full life cycle of health equity efforts; (1) enhancing the existing health equity evidence base; (2) addressing interdisciplinary public health practice and data needs; (3) recognizing the value of qualitative data; (4) evaluating health equity programs and policies.

Founding Director, AAMC Center for Health Justice at Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)
I am **so** excited to participate in next week's conversation about "The Politics of Health Equity", hosted by Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and Partners for Advancing Health Equity - Mark your calendars! March 19th 1-2PM CT. And what an honor to share the virtual podium with Ella Greene-Moton from the American Public Health Association, Anique Forrester from University of Maryland Medical Center and Caryn Bell from Tulane. The politics of health equity involve a variety of views, beliefs, and factors that affect how health inequity is discussed and how health policies are implemented. Such differing perspectives shape our perceptions of health issues and health disparities experienced by marginalized populations, influencing the actions taken to address them. Political divides and polarization are persistent challenges to implementing initiatives that will serve communities in need and improve health outcomes. This webinar will bring together voices to share their insights on the role of politics in the advancement of health equity. We'll discuss ways that organizations across sectors can collaboratively participate in the political process and bridge political gaps to push for policies and programs that will improve health outcomes for all. #healthequity #healthpolicy #healthjustice #politicaldeterminantsofhealth Register here: https://lnkd.in/gSUGKdEY
