International Plastic Bag Free Day is celebrated each year on July 3rd! Here's a #tbt of Rebecca Ladue at Leominster's Summer Stroll last month showing off Open Sky's lime green reusable bags. Approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide each year but although most of those are only used for an average of 20 minutes, each bag can take between 500 and 1,000 years to decompose.

On this International Plastic Bag Free Day, JB Polypack is rallying for a healthier planet by taking a stand against plastic waste. Single-use plastic bags, often discarded after just one use, wreak havoc on our environment. They linger for centuries, polluting our oceans, endangering wildlife, and adding to the alarming rise of microplastics. At JB Polypack, we are proud to offer sustainable packaging solutions like PET sheets and PET straps, all crafted from recycled bottles. Every action, no matter how small, makes a difference. By ditching plastic bags, we can collectively drive meaningful change. By choosing sustainable alternatives whenever possible, we drive change. So let’s choose reusable bags, champion sustainable practices, and spread the word about the urgent need to cut down on plastic waste. Join us in our mission to safeguard the planet. Make the switch to sustainable options today and be part of the movement for a greener future! #InternationalPlasticBagFreeDay #sustainablefuture #packaging #packagingsolutions #plasticrecycling Amit Agarwal Amit Jain sagar singhal CA Hardikkumar A. Let's have a shout-out to the Chicago Women-Owned sustainable businesses making waves in a world obsessed with single-use, dirt-cheap plastic bottles. We had the chance to talk to two companies that are committed to giving plastic a run for their money. We were giddy after our conversation with Manuela Zoninsein. Her company, Kadeya designed a closed-loop hydration station. It is like Divvy for beverages. What we love most is her commitment to making it affordable and convenient (for the customer & the building owner). We also had a lovely conversation with another Chicago-based company, Open Water. They are walking the walk of sustainability. They use a circular closed-loop cycle and the highest PCR (post-consumer recycled) content in the industry. Then they offset any remaining emissions, so they are a climate-neutral company. We love their capped cans because they are refillable! Gotta love double-duty products :) #womenowned #innovation #localbusiness #chicago #ditchplastic #sustainabilitymatters

OUR PRODUCTS, OUR PROBLEM! 🌍♻️ Our plastic lids are literally the bane of our existence! 😖🥴😡 Our founder “ummed and arrghed” for a year about launching the brand when she found out she had to use plastic caps. We came to the conclusion that we have to start somewhere and if it means one day we can irradicate them all together - maybe even industry wide, it’s worth it. 🙏 For now, it’s our products and our problem. We are responsible for our plastic caps, so we’re happy to take responsibility for them. Made from a thinner recyclable PP Polypropylene Plastic than traditional screw top caps, they can be easily unscrewed and popped in your local recycling bin OR you can send them back to us 👆and we will hold on to them so we can turn them into something new. ♻️ Plus, if you send us your post office receipt, we will take that money off your next order. 💸 We hope to make this process as smooth as possible in the future but we figure, doing something is better than nothing at all. Watch this space and if you can, pretty please recycle our products, we’d love nothing more than doing nothing at all. You can find out more about our sustainability goals and what we are doing about them here: https://lnkd.in/e4Se8Nq6

💚 We're really pleased to have signed up to the Devizes Town Council Plastic Free Pledge 2024! We have already reduced plastic in our packaging and are using paper based parcel tape. We have also replaced disposable plastic cups with reusable cups and eco paper cups, and have returned to using glass milk bottles for our tea and coffee! But this year we are having a bigger push to reduce plastic use in our business! 💚 What are your businesses doing to reduce plastic use? Do you have any ideas to share? Let us know in the comments. #plasticgamechanger #plasticfreeoceans #plasticfree #sealingthefuture

Currently, I'm a digital marketing trainee at PACKIN CLUB //Student at ACHARYA NARENDRA COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF DELHI // EX-digital marketing intern at Kshitiksha Foundation//
Still, using plastic packaging? Don't make this huge mistake. Plastic packaging is becoming increasingly recognized for its damaging environmental qualities. Plastic can take thousands of years to biodegrade, so single-use plastic packaging is highly polluting. Even plastic packaging that claims to be recyclable often ends up in landfill There is a need to minimize our plastic use to effectively minimize plastic waste. This means modifying our everyday habits, not using plastic when there is a good alternative and only using plastic when it is strictly necessary. For which Packin Club ( Packin Club) is here with a solution for all your packaging problems it is a leading provider of eco-friendly packaging solutions, committed to helping people reduce their environmental footprint. #packinclub #ventureforpackaging #noplasticpatrotismthisrepublicday #usecompostablepackaging #compostablebags

[📢 Let's #breakfree from disposable plastics!] Have you ever thought that there is no real connection between the things you buy and disposable plastic🤔? Many of the "associations" we take for granted can actually be "broken free"! When you go to the supermarket to buy groceries, you don't necessarily have to use plastic bags, you can choose to use #ecofriendlybags instead. When you want to buy a cold drink during summer, you don't really need a plastic bottle or cup, you can bring your own #reusablecup instead. And when ordering takeout, you can bring your own #foodcontainer to pack the meal! #Plastic is second largest contributor to municipal solid waste. Among them, the 3 main types are plastic bags, plastic utensils, and plastic bottles. Joining forces with our ambassadors, including Chan Hoi-wan, Gigi Leung, Yvette Kong, Cheung Ka-long, Kam Sing Wong, as well as members of the Hong Kong Fencing Team Choi Chun-yin, Ng Lok-wang, Nicholas Edward Choi and Yeung Tsz-ka💪, we urge the public to "break free” from disposable plastics and contribute to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation🌍!

🌱 Biodegradable Packaging - 🌍 Compostable Trash Bags / Pet Poop Bags / Medical Waste Bags / Carrier Bags 💚
Advice for a Zero Waste Event 🌿 - Part 2 Inform Vendors and Participants: Communicate your zero waste goals to everyone involved – caterers, attendees, vendors, and staff. Make sure they understand and agree to participate in your initiative. 👏👏 List of acceptable items: This portion of the information packet should include a list of acceptable products and supplier information, as well as a list of prohibited materials, such as polystyrene (Styrofoam), plastic water bottles, cups or utensils. This list should be provided even if the event is providing these supplies. The list should prioritize reusable products, followed by compostable or recyclable products. When listing preferred recyclable materials, items made from post-consumer recycled content should be prioritized. This list should indicate an event ban on non-recyclable and non-compostable products, such as plastic bags and wraps, as well as single-use plastic water bottles and polystyrene (Styrofoam). #greenevents #eventhosting #recycling #ecofriendlysolutions #compostable

When striving to make more sustainable choices, it is vital to educate oneself on the situation and of the candidate selections. Consider the attached example LCA comparison on a drink container. Without doubt, we, as consumers, have 3 things to remember: -Be better about reducing our consumption - Choose to #recycle solutions that can be recycled - Select the lowest-environmental-impact product choice wherever possible. In my cases, despite what you've been told, this is indeed plastic. And I second the suggestion to follow Chris DeArmitt - PhD, FRSC, FIMMM for additional unbiased reporting on the actual data around plastics and sustainability. #sustainability #plastics #facts
Recycler of segregated rigid plastic waste. 100% of accepted plastic is processed by us for future plastic manufacturing
Today I thought that I would take it back to basics and try to explain why those of us that prefer plastic, do so. We are opting to advocate for the material that is best for the planet. This table, courtesy of Materials and the Environment: Eco-Informed Material Choice 3rd Edition and Chris DeArmitt, shows why plastic for drinks bottles is top of the pops. Recyclability is very important in sustainability (acknowledging that individuals, organisations and governments need to play their part – hence the lower figures in column 5 than are possible) and this needs to be a major consideration too. The HDPE bottle (such as a milk bottle) and the PET bottle (such as a The Coca-Cola Company bottle) have the lowest impact, whilst simultaneously both having the properties of being 100% recyclable. And you can see, in particular, why we get our knickers in a twist about water in a can! The truth is, though, as consumers we should all aim to reduce our consumption. Water is perfectly acceptable from taps (in first world countries) and should be drunk from a glass (with no straw!) or carried in a reusable plastic water bottle away from home. We all need to be that bit more mindful and make more sustainable and green decisions. #sustainability #packaging #water
