Our efforts to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness continue. Partners For HOME has successfully housed 2,000 households in 2023, marking the highest annual rehousing rate to date. Since 2016, we have housed 12,500 neighbors, demonstrating significant progress in our efforts to reduce homelessness and provide stable housing solutions. However, the challenge persists as more individuals face homelessness. We are seeing new faces every day and many are struggling to make ends meet. As Mayor Andre Dickens says, Atlanta is a group project, and it's up to all of us, both in the City of Atlanta and the region, to support those experiencing homelessness. Together with Mayor Dickens and our dedicated Continuum of Care partners, we are committed to housing our neighbors and nurturing communities. Watch the video to see our collaborative efforts in action. 📸 Witness the power of unity and compassion in making a difference! #CommunitySupport #PartnersForHome #EndHomelessness #TogetherWeCan #HomeForEveryone #AtlantaStrong

In Charlotte, we're witnessing a critical challenge that touches the heart of our community — the rising tide of homelessness. This year, we're turning our focus toward understanding and addressing the complexities of housing instability in our city. Insights from the 2023 State of Housing Instability & Homelessness report by Mecklenburg County Community Support Services have been eye-opening: ⬆️ The count of individuals facing homelessness in our community is on the rise. ⬆️ An increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness without shelter. ⬆️ People are spending more time in emergency shelters than before. The availability of affordable rental options is dwindling. ⬆️ An increasing number of low- and moderate-income families are finding it hard to secure and maintain housing. ⬆️ The rate of evictions is climbing. Charlotte, we're curious to hear your thoughts. Were you aware of these issues? Do these findings surprise you? More importantly, how can we come together as a community to support those in need and find sustainable solutions to these challenges? Let's start the conversation and more importantly, let's start taking action. If you're ready to make a difference or want to learn more about our involvement and what you can do, let's talk. Together, we can make a change. #charlottecommunity #housinginstability #homelessnessawareness #takeaction #strataimpact

Temporarily staying with others (or “doubling up”) is the way that most people —particularly families with children—experience homelessness in Illinois. Most Chicagoans experiencing homelessness temporarily stay with others at some point throughout the year. According to Chicago Coalition for the Homeless of the 65,611 people experiencing homelessness in 2020, 75.6% were temporarily staying with others. So, what is the definition of homelessness? Homelessness describes a situation where someone lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence—but what is fixed, regular, and adequate? The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires that someone have a nighttime residence that is either a shelter or a place not meant for human habitation to be considered homeless- this definition largely excludes people that are couch-surfing. Let’s find a way. The last few years have been tough for Portland. As much as we’ve struggled with issues like homelessness, we’ve had to deal with cynical notions that Portland is done. Seems that too many people have been quick to give up on us. We at Impact NW have been part of this city since 1966. If we’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that Portlanders don’t give up. We find a way. Amid the negativity and finger pointing, Impact NW is doing something remarkable. We are harnessing all of our capacity to prevent people from losing their housing - with great success. Not only have we served 83% more people since the pandemic (now more than 30,000), we are proud to say that well over 90% of the people we support remain housed. That’s what finding a way looks like. Here’s what else we know. You don’t give up either. You live here and, like us, you are also finding a way. Let’s team up. Join us for ‘We Are Impact’ as we raise support to fuel Impact NW’s homelessness prevention efforts. After all, it’s up to us. We live here. We know how to find a way - Together. Joy Hunt has experienced housing insecurity throughout the years, she understands the hurdles and complications of losing your housing. She knows the indignity homeless folks experience everyday. The first time she experienced homelessness, she was working a 40 hour work week, homeless, and barely affording a hotel room in Sacramento to ensure she wasn't out living in the elements. In turn, when she would reveal to people she was homeless people would reply "𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴." This begs the question, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚? Homelessness does not look just one way, instead we must begin to break down those misconceptions and listen to stories like Joy that are unconventional but oh so common. ❤️Double Tap to like this post and share Joy’s story! Follow @theringofdemocracy for more on housing issues facing Sacramento. We will be highlighting more stories like Joy's in the coming months. #TheRingOfDemocracy #Sacramento #Housing #HousingInsecurity #Homelessness

Mayor Bass Promised To House 17,000 Angelenos in Her First Year. Here's How She Did. We're tracking progress on Mayor Bass' campaign promises on homelessness. By Brianna Lee and Nick Gerda SITUATION: It was a big and bold promise by Karen Bass as she campaigned to be L.A’.s next mayor: get 17,000 unhoused Angelenos into housing during her first year in office. The homelessness crisis plays out daily on city streets — confronting residents, business owners and visitors with the visible failure of public policy to keep people sheltered and safe. And this crisis is top of mind for the people who live and work here. When LAist asked Angelenos what issues most urgently needed Mayor Bass’ attention, 63% of respondents said homelessness and a third listed it as their biggest personal stressor. Homelessness came up so often across our survey that it seems clear that making progress on reducing homelessness could make or break the new mayor’s first term. Another thing that was clear from what we heard: the Bass administration needs to not just make progress on this issue, but make sure that progress is visible and felt by Angelenos. https://lnkd.in/gzktTW8M SOLUTION: Together, We Can House Hope: Be a part of the solution.
