Regular attendees of Global Revenue Forum are aware that each year, in conjunction with Taktikon Consultancy and Hotelperformance, we aim to curate and deliver an event with content that truly connects with hoteliers, that aligns with the industry's current challenges and opportunities, and equips attendees with insights and strategies to be best prepared for the year ahead. So, given the dynamic environment we are currently facing, why did we decide this year's theme ‘Roadmap to Resilience’ was so important? What are we looking to achieve? And what can attendees expect? Annemarie Gubanski provides insight into the thinking behind this year’s event and why now, more than ever, building resilience within the industry is key. #inhouseav Let’s talk about a common hiccup in the event planning world: defaulting to a hotel’s in-house AV team without a second thought. It’s like grabbing a cup of coffee inside a Safeway because it’s *right there* – convenient, sure, but maybe not your best cup of coffee. Hotels love to push their in-house AV because it’s a win-win for them, not necessarily for you. They get a hefty cut from the AV’s earnings, meaning your bill gets pumped up, too. And while they pitch it as the simplest, most secure option, it’s really about locking you into a deal that’s great for them, costing you more without adding value. Here’s the twist: opting for the hotel’s AV isn’t mandatory. Despite what some contracts want you to believe, you’re free to shop around. This is key because, let’s face it, we all want to avoid unnecessary costs and ensure our event shines without draining the budget. Understanding your rights, budgeting wisely, and knowing what drives hotel revenues can give you leverage. Whether it’s room bookings or catering, your event brings plenty to the table. Use this to negotiate terms that let you bring in an external AV team without penalties. Remember, the goal is to create an unforgettable event without being tied down by clauses that limit your choices and inflate costs. Armed with the right info, you can navigate negotiations to your advantage, ensuring your event is not just memorable but also financially sound. Here are some more tips that Nick Bacon and Anca Platon Trifan, CMP, DES, WMEP shared in a live conversation not too long ago: https://lnkd.in/g9bTM7w8 #EventPlanning #AVTech #NegotiationSkills #BudgetManagement #InnovativeSolutions #avpartner #avvendor #avbudgeting #eventprofs
