NEWS // Facebook Enhancing Video Tools on the Platform With continued emphasis on all formats of videos within the Facebook app, Meta is making the same video editing tools available for Reels to create dynamic videos for the Feed. The video tab (previously known as Facebook Watch) is now the source for all videos on Facebook, including Reels, long-form, and live content. Expect to see the Video tab added to the shortcuts bar on the app soon. Additionally, you can now view and add comments to Instagram Reels on Facebook without having to switch between apps. You’ll need to add both your Facebook and Instagram accounts to the Account Center. It's great to see Meta making content easier to create as well as more discoverable. This news underscores the value Meta places on Reels and should signal to marketers that Reels should be part of your content strategy on Facebook, not just Instagram, even if you're just cross-posting the same Reels. #news #meta #facebook #gouldmarketing

I don’t say this much...but good for meta. While digital provenance technology developed and prioritized by companies in the digital content authenticity sector like Truepic or members of organizations like Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) can deliver more transparency to our content viewing experience, such transparency doesn't necessarily fit the engagement-based algorithms and business models of social media giants. As a teen once told me in an interview about the state of social media, “It would be amazing if I knew where every post originated and how much it has been altered. I don’t believe such altered content should be banned or that people shouldn't be able to share content they didn’t create…but just knowing is important.” Hopefully, this is just the beginning for meta. Only when they eliminate engagement based feeds, behavioral ad-targeting and are honest about the emotional effects their product has on users can we be confident they truly do care about the billions of users who have made them trillions of dollars! https://lnkd.in/ecZUN9xA

Facebook doesn't want to be a social network anymore. They want to be an entertainment platform. Brands and creators who aren't creating entertaining video are being left in the dust. Three updates Meta announced this week showing this transition: 1️⃣ Integrating Instagram reels in the Facebook main feed. 2️⃣ Creating a separate feed in Facebook exclusively for videos. 3️⃣ Updating the video editor, pushing groups to make videos natively rather than uploading.
