Founder and CEO: Allied Scholars for Animal Protection | Bioprocessing Senior Scientist, Cultivated Meat: GFI | Lifestyle Medicine
There are many shared challenges across regenerative medicine, stem cell biology, and cultivated meat production that offer opportunities for synergistic problem-solving. For example, regenerative medicine researchers could make important contributions to the challenges of scaling cellular material, understanding the molecular basis of cell differentiation and proliferation, stem cell biology, and scaffolding. That's why Elliot and I are very enthusiastic about collaborating with partners from different fields, including regenerative medicine and biomanufacturing. If you are attending ARMI's meeting or have ideas about intersection of regenerative medicine and cultivated meat please reach out to us! #altprotein #regenerativemedicine #stem #cultivatedmeat
I'll be attending the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI) | BioFabUSA meeting in New Hampshire next week. The mission of ARMI, which was just awarded another $50M from DoD, is to create a manufacturing industry out of cells, tissues, and organs. The focus to date has been on regenerative medicine, but there are many opportunities for crosstalk between innovation in cultivated meat and regenerative medicine. It would be great to see more cultivated meat companies get involved. Come chat with me and Faraz Harsini, MSc, PhD, DipACLM at the event if you are attending and interested in learning more about #cultivatedmeat.

Learn more about how innovations developed at VCU, W&M, and ODU were transferred to businesses to turn into reality. Fascinating.
WATCH THIS VIDEO: Did you know that a Lyme disease vaccine for dogs was developed at Virginia Commonwealth University and is now marketed by drug company Zoetis? Sonic Nets, a bird deterrent technology that originated from William & Mary, is now being used at big retailers, orchards, and runways to keep birds away. Technology that came out of Old Dominion University that uses nanosecond electrical pulses to treat dermatological conditions was transferred to bioelectric medicine company Pulse Biosciences. Learn more about how these and other innovations developed at VCU Innovation Gateway , William & Mary, and Old Dominion University were transferred to businesses to turn into reality. The video is a recording of the Virtual Innovation Spotlight webinar from RVA757 Connects held on March 6, 2024. The webinar also delved into the opportunities, benefits, and challenges of university technology transfer offices.
