As Older Americans Month gets underway, we are thrilled to announce a partnership with The Loop Village to offer San Gabriel Valley seniors a virtual community alongside Revolution Foods’ healthy grab-and-go meals. This new program, administered by the YWCA San Gabriel Valley, gives seniors 60 and over access to more than 120 live online classes and events through Loop as well as seven frozen take-home meals, available for pickup once a week at select senior centers. With this innovative model, seniors who have a hard time getting to senior centers daily for group meals can still enjoy senior meals at home without missing out on vital social activities. Revolution Foods is proud to join Loop and the YWCA of San Gabriel Valley to help stem food insecurity and social isolation among seniors. We hope more senior centers throughout Los Angeles County will replicate this amazing program! https://lnkd.in/gkexDgcK #OlderAmericansMonth #RevolutionFoods #theLoopVillage #FeedingSeniors

Recommendation #5 to increase trust! Signal that you trust those you serve. Trust begets trust — so lean in to trusting your community and showing that you trust them. It’s important to develop a two-way reciprocal and respectful relationship. Melvin Carter, St. Paul, Minnesota Mayor and Aspen Ascend Fellow has said: “When my daughter was born, we were on WIC (the state supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants & Children)...And I remember feeling so frustrated because I would go to the grocery store with this public money but I couldn’t get what I really needed because those foods weren’t part of the program. And that’s what happens when a city tries to tell you that they know what is best for you and your family. Not only is it not helping, but it’s actually causing harm. But if you trust someone, you can put the money and the decisions in their hands.” Learn more about how to earn long-term #trust in our #ReplenishingTrust guide: https://lnkd.in/eFhKDzeT

🌟 Taking a Stand for Hungry Kids: Let's Make a Difference! 🌟 Hey there, friends and fellow advocates for change! 👋🏼 It's a fact that many students rely on school breakfast and lunch programs to fuel their days. 🍎🥪 These programs ensure they get the nutrition they need to thrive. But here's the heartbreaking truth: when summer comes around, countless kids go hungry because the safety net disappears. 😔 We can't let this happen any longer! The time for action is NOW. 💪🏽 That's why Wendy and I are committed to working tirelessly to address this issue. We firmly believe that no child should ever have to face an empty stomach. Together, we're determined to bridge the gap and secure year-round meal programs for these young minds. 🏛️ Our message to the Washington State legislature is clear: It's time to step up and fund year-round programs that ensure our kids have access to nutritious meals every day, all year long. By doing so, we're investing not just in their health, but also in their future potential. 🌱 But we can't do this alone. We need YOUR support to make our voices heard! 🗣️ Let's rally together and bring stakeholders from all corners to the table. Let's brainstorm innovative solutions that will put an end to childhood hunger once and for all. 🤝 Share this post, spread the word, and let's create a movement that compels change. Together, we can make a real impact and ensure that no child in our state goes to bed hungry. 🛏️💔 Let's be the change-makers our kids deserve! 💙 #NoChildGoesHungry #YearRoundMeals #CommunityStrong

Can we make Boerne, The Healthiest Small Town in Texas? Can we eliminate diet-related disease & food insecurity while fostering community? Follow along, this'll be fun... I’ve seen motivated individuals & new companies across America doing AMAZING work in #ExerciseIsMedicine, #FoodIsMedicine & #FoodInsecurity & decided it was time to put all these ideas to work at Ens' school (she's 6 going into First Grade). Students & parents LOVE going to school activities, so let’s use that to our advantage & get communities to MOVE more while having fun at a monthly #FamilyFitnessNight! PE Coach Clark & Principal Hammond were supportive & recommended talking with Boerne ISD Athletic Director Leech. Once we had approval, Prin. Hammond asked me to coordinate with our PTO & BAM! Our first monthly Family Fitness Night is in September!! - Bring loud music, plan a course around the school & start getting the word out. That's all it takes! Seeing how fun & easy it was to make the Family Fitness Night happen, I had a crazy idea, "What if we could blow this up, activate the entire town, and try to make Boerne, The Healthiest Small Town in Texas"? The idea is to tackle the low-hanging fruit of health initiatives first. Think...what's low cost, already proven in other areas of the Country & only needs a few motivated community members & businesses to come together to make it happen? The attached PDF is only a draft & it's very early, but the pieces are falling into place. It’s time to share what we're trying to accomplish. The next big step is to bring everyone together at the Boerne Health Summit this fall. There are no road maps for this, so we're going to make one! I'm using INTERRUPT HUNGER & our #MoveEatGive podcast to document every step of the way, so you can replicate similar health initiatives in your town! Upcoming MOVE EAT GIVE podcast "How-to” episodes: - “How to Bring a #SchoolGarden to Your School” with Kelly Douglas - “How to Add a #FoodPantry to a Pediatric or Primary Care Practice” with Angela Black, MD It'll be a little messy but eliminating diet-related disease & food insecurity while fostering community are kind of world-changing goals & worthy of making a little mess. Being vulnerable here… I need help! I have a fun but demanding job, two adult daughters with disabilities (EDS) & a 6 yo (she's amazing, but she's 6). If you think you’d like to help, please DM or email me at Jollie@InterruptHunger(.)org. We’ll need funding from grants or donations along the way, so if you have experience writing grants in Exercise Is Medicine, Food Is Medicine, Food Insecurity, or #CommunityHealth I'd love to talk! If you think our cause is worthy of a donation, I'd REALLY like to talk (Interrupt Hunger is a 501c3)! Let’s spread some joy people! Hundreds of children will breathe better in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania because of a new indoor air quality improvement pilot program. The child care centers that will benefit are in areas that have historically been underserved and where populations have a high propensity for respiratory illness. More from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette: "Twenty child care centers across Allegheny County will receive grant funding to improve indoor air quality as part of an initiative to reduce chronic respiratory illness in young children. All of the child care centers are located in environmental justice communities- areas disproportionately exposed to pollution, industry and climate harm. Many of the affected communities are low income and have large minority populations, according to the state definition. The child care centers will be the first participants in the Allegheny County Indoor Air Quality Improvement Pilot Program, a new project aimed at helping child care facilities in environmental justice communities reduce outbreaks of respiratory illness through better air ventilation systems." Together, with governments, private companies, and non-profits, we can improve health outcomes with healthy indoor air. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e7y8ynn4

Championing the cause of Universal #FreeSchoolMeals 🥗 Having spent years collaborating closely with schools and catering managers across the country, I wholeheartedly welcome this change. It is imperative that we take action to provide all eligible children with a fair opportunity to access nutritious, healthy, and well-balanced school meals. This initiative represents an investment in the future – a commitment to shaping a healthier, more equitable tomorrow. Supporting free school meals is not just about nourishing bodies; it's about nourishing minds and fostering educational success. By advocating for and implementing free school meals, we have the power to make a positive impact on the dietary habits, overall health, and educational achievements of the next generation. It's a collective effort to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the resources they need to thrive academically and lead healthier lives. #freeschoolmeals #welcomethechange #schoolmeals #freeschoolmeals #betterfuture https://loom.ly/cYNaq88

Every child deserves access to food, health, and education. Having plant-based meal options in school is a way to make sure children have the opens they know intuitively are the best for themselves. We’ve been successful in getting a law passed mandating plant-based meal options in ALL ILLINOIS SCHOOLS. You can have this option mandated in your schools as well. DM me to find out how you can start or propel a movement to get healthy meals in schools for your children. We have the strategies and the systems to help make it happen. Together we can make a difference! https://pbnm.org #plantbasednutritionmovement #6millionseeds #childnutrition #childhoodobesity #childhoodnutrition #letsmoveforchildren #childobesity #healthynutritionforchildren #growingahealthychild #parents
