“Black politics and activism without the Black ownership of and control over primary forms and bases of power such as property, wealth, organization, etc., is the recipe for Black political and non-political powerlessness. The rather obtuse pursuit of political office and the ballot box as primary sources of power by the Black community and its politicians without its concomitant ownership of and control over important resources, has actually hindered the development of real Black power in America. More ominously, there appears to be a paradoxical and positive correlation between the number of Blacks elected and appointed to high office and retrogressions in the civil and human rights extended to Black Americans during the past twenty years. Increases in homelessness, poverty, unemployment, criminality and violence in the Black community; disorganization of the traditional Black family, inadequacies in education, increases in health problems of all types, and a host of other social and political ills have all attended increases in the number of Black elected and appointed officials.” “Blueprint For Black Power; A Moral, Political and Economic Imperative for the Twenty-First Century” Dr. Amos Nelson WilsonFebruary 23, 1941 – January 14, 1995 https://lnkd.in/g4i2dYQ

On this day 15 years ago, 173 people lost their lives in Victoria’s 2009 Black Saturday fires. It is a day that will forever be remembered for its widespread devastation and lifelong impacts. From these tragic fires, much has been learned. A taskforce from the Centre’s predecessor, the Bushfire CRC, assembled researchers from fire agencies and research organisations around Australia to examine the key issues in the bushfires, assessing more than 1,300 homes, interviewing more than 600 residents, and taking more than 21,000 photos. The learnings from the Black Saturday fires are collated here (https://lnkd.in/gQm4pdeb) and form the basis for many of the fire- and resilience-related research carried out by the Centre, our Participants, and researchers today. https://shorturl.at/flzJ8

Ortega-Williams, A. (2024). Healing Black Futures: Black Youth Organizing to Redefine Destiny. Journal of Progressive Human Services, 1-18. ABSTRACT: Black youth throughout American history have resisted racism and the social injustice it produces. Strategies have historically included rebellion, advocacy, and social protest as well as the construction of mutual aid societies. Black youth have been central to the development of Black counter-institutions preserving their heritage and collective strengths. While contemporary organizing frameworks recognize the need for personal and “collective self” care to sustain social action, there is little research on the meaning of ancestral historical resistance or the cultural and spiritual mechanisms Black youth incorporate. In this article, findings from interviews with 20 Black youth organizing in New York City will be presented; highlighting what they described as discovering their calling and channeling liberation for a healed Black future. Implications for Black youth-led community organizing in the context of historical trauma and systemic violence through social action will be explored. The study is situated in the literature examining organizing among Black youth in the context of historical trauma. YOU KNOW IN YOUR HEART OF HEARTS HE SAID NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE SAYS "FAKE NEWS"! Welcome to the Ultimate Showdown: Conning Conundrum Syndrome vs. Trump Derangement Syndrome! In one corner, we have... Conning Conundrum Syndrome (CCS)! - Symptoms: Unshakable loyalty, denial reflex, and the blame game shuffle. Victims insist they haven't been conned by Trump and Putin, despite overwhelming evidence that could make a blindfolded jury shout "Guilty!" And in the other corner, we have... Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)! - Symptoms: Uncontrollable eye-rolling at the mention of Trump, spontaneous fits of fact-checking, and an intense urge to debunk every tweet. Accused sufferers vehemently oppose Trump, sometimes with a fervor that rivals a sports fan during the playoffs. CCS - "Conning Conundrum Syndrome" is like having a GPS that stubbornly refuses to recalibrate. You're headed for a cliff, but it keeps saying, "Turn right in 100 feet." You’re convinced the destination is glorious, but spoiler alert: it’s a steep drop into reality. TDS - "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is like having a highly sensitive radar that detects every single Trump-related blip, no matter how small. You’re hyper-aware of every move, comment, and typo, often resulting in high blood pressure and a sudden urge to tweet. Denial vs. Obsession - CCS: "No way, Trump’s perfect!" - TDS: "No way, Trump’s terrible!" Blame Game vs. Blame Flame - CCS: "What about those emails?" - TDS: "What about that tax return?" Loyalty vs. Paranoia - CCS: "Trump could do no wrong." - TDS: "Trump can do no right." The Hilarious Hypocrisy: - CCS sufferers are like fans at a magic show, utterly convinced that the magician’s tricks are real, while TDS sufferers are the skeptics yelling, "I see the wires!" - CCS Remedy: "Come on, admitting you've been conned isn't that bad. Think of it like realizing the magician pulls rabbits out of hats, not thin air." - TDS Remedy: "Hey, take a breath. Sometimes it’s okay to let a tweet pass by without a full investigation. Not every blip is a bombshell." In the grand scheme of things, both CCS and TDS could use a little bit of perspective, a dash of humor, and a lot less stress. After all, life’s too short to be stuck in a syndrome, right? So, whether you’re staunchly defending or constantly critiquing, remember to laugh along the way. Because in the end, we’re all just trying to navigate this crazy world, one conundrum at a time.
Memorial Day Please remember that when we honor on fallen heroes over memorial day weekend, Donald Trump called the people "SUCKERS AND LOSERS"

I took a step back from focusing solely on black men in my professional endeavors. However, let me make it clear that I am still a passionate advocate for their well-being. In my heart, I truly believe that black men are the leaders and pillars of our community. Without a solid foundation and proper structure, our culture will always be in disarray. You don't have to share my perspective, but it's undeniably crucial for black men to remove their masks and embrace their rightful place in society. Far too many black men lack peace and struggle to find their way in a world that doesn't always have their best interests at heart. It's time for a change! That's why I initiated this project. I want to provide a platform for black men to openly discuss what it means to find peace and be their authentic selves, if that's even possible in today's society. Rather than sticking to predefined topics, I want the conversations to flow naturally and freely. It's vital for people to witness these discussions because it's not only about inspiring other black men. It's also about educating society on how to view and respect black men when they are true to themselves. If you're interested in being a guest on this platform, please reach out to my team at info@latonyamechelle.com. Tell us why you would be an excellent guest and kindly attach two professional-looking pictures of yourself. Let's spread the message that #blackmenmatter. Let's encourage them to speak up and share their stories because they have something valuable to say. It's time to empower them and foster a greater appreciation for their presence and perspectives. Join me in this movement. #lethimtalk #hehassomethingtosay #Blackman #blackmen - The LoveChologist - Join my mailing list at latonyamechelle.com

Life changing Moments & Movements Real Life Values & Success Winning & Loosing | Winners & Loosers It means so much to each of us and is understood in so many different ways and avenues.. But without kindness, understanding, transparency, loyalty, honesty, being supportive, planning, structure and discipline we will never be able to achieve our goals and plans.. One said: Ships are easier to steer when the sea is calm. So a captain’s wit and endurance is tested when it storms, when a ship breaks, or when the chartered course isn’t taken. These are challenging times and challenges to conquer in ones life. Please remember that it is easier to feel confident in command when everything is going well. But real leaders are made in the line of fire and in hellfire. They act when everyone else gives up. The lead by example and push their limits to lead exceptionally.. Success comes to those who don‘t quit and never give up.. Those who keep pushing ahead and even harder when progress is unseen, seems slow or is even staggering.. Because your breakthrough could be there any second of any hour of any day of any week of any month and any year of that moment right around the corner..
