The very foundation of the creation of Media, Video, Sound, TV, Movies, and Games is shifting below our feet at a speed that most are not aware of! Check out the video clips in this article. "A small team of artificial intelligence researchers at the Institute for Intelligent Computing, Alibaba Group, demonstrates, via videos they created, a new AI app that can accept a single photograph of a person's face and a soundtrack of someone speaking or singing and use them to create an animated version of the person speaking or singing the voice track. The group has published a paper describing their work on the arXiv preprint server. Prior researchers have demonstrated AI applications that can process a photograph of a face and use it to create a semi-animated version. In this new effort, the team at Alibaba has taken this a step further by adding sound. And perhaps, just as importantly, they have done so without the use of 3D models or even facial landmarks. Instead, the team has used diffusion modeling based on training an AI on large datasets of audio or video files. As AI's capabilities increase, I like many others in the space, find regulation to be crucial in protecting people in all professions. I want to start a discussion, and invite you to comment on anything I've said here: especially if you disagree. This is a very early idea that will take work to formulate. I propose the concept of a 'Designated Responsibilitor(s)' as a component in the greater endeavor of AI regulation. Basically, for any work/service provided at the consumer level that is to be done in conjunction with AI, the output be required to have a real human or party of humans as cosigners attached to it. At a given unit of output, when signing a contract, and/or even at the end of an invoice it may look like "Cosigned by Jalen Gonel" or "Cosigned by the Sales Team at Bredcrums". I propose this as a method of regulation for any professional work. The extent of responsibility will differ depending on the industry and function (ie a Doctor who directly administers aid vs. a customer service representative who facilitates the policies of a multi-nation conglomerate), but the point would be to ensure authenticity in given work outputted. I believe it would incentivize a strong degree of due diligence, accountability for actions committed with malice intent, and overall promote greater safety in using experimental AI. One of my greatest concerns of the future is that individuals will use the benefits of this powerful technology without accountability and with anonymity. I think that for the level of power AI holds, that is a very dangerous world to live in. I would love your thoughts on this. #ai #regulation #chatgpt
